The Milwaukee Brewers came from four runs down to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 on Thursday night, sweeping the National League Championship Series in four games.

Zoom in: Garrett Mitchell’s tiebreaking solo homer in the sixth inning put Milwaukee ahead and David Hamilton added an insurance shot in the ninth. Jackson Chourio ran down the final out at the left field warning track.

By the numbers: The Brewers out-homered the Dodgers 7-1 in the NLCS after tying for second to last in the Majors in home runs during the regular season. They scored the second-most runs in baseball over those six months.

The backstory: Los Angeles had ended Milwaukee’s season three times during Christian Yelich’s tenure: Game 7 of the 2018 NLCS, again in 2020, and a sweep in the 2025 NLCS.

  • "You have to have that faith, and you have to have, like, the belief that you know this group can get it done," said Yelich, whom the Brewers surprised by naming captain this year.

Between the lines: The last time Milwaukee reached a World Series, in 1982, it was broadcaster Dwayne Mosley who had the call, with six words: "Milwaukee, you have a World Series!" Rod Carew’s bouncer to Robin Yount ended that pennant clincher.

  • This time the call belonged to Jeff Levering: "The Brewers win the pennant! Oh my God, the Brewers win the pennant! The World Series will go through Wisconsin!"

What's next: World Series Game 1 is set for October 23 on FOX. Milwaukee waits on the American League champion.

Why it matters: A 44-year wait ended for a franchise that these Dodgers had eliminated in three of its last four postseason trips, and a roster near the bottom of the league in power did it by out-slugging them.
