Astera Labs reported record quarterly revenue of $584.9 million Tuesday as its Scorpio fabric switches became its largest product family.
By the numbers: Revenue rose 154% from a year earlier and 49% from the previous quarter to $584.9 million. GAAP operating income reached $179.1 million, net income was $182.9 million and gross margin was 72.3%.
- Astera guided to $730 million to $750 million in fourth-quarter revenue, with an expected GAAP gross margin of about 72%.
- CEO Jitendra Mohan said growth was led by Scorpio, which entered high-volume production and became the company's biggest product family by revenue.
The big picture: AI accelerators need switches, memory controllers and signal-conditioning chips to move data across a rack. Astera is selling that connective tissue rather than the GPUs themselves, giving it a different route into the same infrastructure boom.
Zoom in: The new Orion reference design scales from 8 to 160 accelerators per pod. Its Aries 7 products are expected to begin sampling to selected customers this quarter, while Orion systems are scheduled through manufacturing partners in the first quarter of 2027.
Yes, but: The performance figures for the new Leo memory products come from Astera's internal testing. Customers still have to validate the claimed gains, including up to 62% faster time to first token and up to 22% more tokens per second.
Why it matters: The AI buildout is creating winners beyond Nvidia. Astera's acceleration shows that switching, memory and optics can become billion-dollar bottlenecks as each rack gets denser and more complex.
