Amazon launches a $75 Bee wearable that listens all day and takes notes

The Bee Frontier wristband and a $100 magnetic phone attachment turn overheard conversations into summaries, to-do lists and Amazon shopping suggestions.

Amazon introduced two Bee devices this week that listen to what you say and hear, then turn it into conversation summaries, reminders and to-do lists.

Zoom in: Bee Frontier is a silicone wristband that also clips to clothing, with dual microphones, IP67 water resistance and up to seven days of battery life. It sells now for $74.99.

  • Bee Eclipse, about the size of a credit card, snaps magnetically to the back of a phone and runs more than 21 days on a charge. It starts at $99.99 and arrives soon.

The big picture: Amazon acquired Bee last year, and these are the first new devices since. The company is wiring them into Alexa+ for hands-free summaries and into Amazon.com for personalised shopping recommendations.

  • Connect Bee to Gmail, Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook and it can surface action items, draft follow-up emails and create calendar invites after a meeting.

By the numbers: Every buyer gets conversation summaries, recaps and 14-day memory. A Bee Pro subscription at $11.99 a month adds unlimited summaries, app integrations, daily memories and a desktop app, with 30 days free.

Yes, but: A device that listens all day raises obvious questions about everyone else in the room. Amazon says Bee prompts users to seek permission from call participants each time a recording starts.

What they're saying: Amazon says audio is processed into insights in real time and then deleted, transcripts are encrypted with keys only the device creates, and one button plus an indicator light shows when the microphone is live.

Why it matters: Pocket-sized always-on recording is now a $75 impulse buy from the largest retailer in the world, which moves the ambient privacy question from the lab to the family dinner table.
