Parasite infections aren't just a third-world problem—they're surprisingly common in modern societies. If you've never done a parasite cleanse and you're 30 or 40, the odds are significant you may have parasites affecting your gut health, energy, and even muscle-building ability. Natural parasite cleanses using ingredients like pumpkin seed, mimosa seed, and Ceylon cinnamon can be highly effective (89-90% efficacy in studies). Do a cleanse, wait 10 days to catch any hatching eggs, then repeat. Make sure your spouse does it too—parasites spread through close contact.
Episode Overview
The hosts discuss a study ranking America's most 'jacked' cities based on gym concentration and protein consumption. They explore how cities like Las Vegas, Tucson, and Miami rank highly, while vegan-heavy cities like LA and San Francisco rank lower. The conversation shifts to parasites, detailing how common parasitic infections are even in developed countries and the benefits of natural parasite cleanses.
Key Insights
Gym Concentration Reflects Cultural Fitness Priorities
Cities with high gym concentrations reveal more than just fitness trends—they demonstrate cultural priorities. Miami leads with 103 gyms per 100,000 residents, far ahead of second place Atlanta at 69. These gyms survive because they're privately owned businesses with thin margins, meaning high demand is necessary for survival. The presence of many gyms indicates a culture that genuinely values strength training and physical fitness.
Parasites Are More Common Than You Think
Contrary to popular belief, parasite infections aren't limited to third-world countries. In the U.S., 38% of children in daycare have pinworm infections. Over years of eating raw foods (sushi, vegetables, fruits), the odds of parasite infection increase significantly. Parasites can cause subtle symptoms like low energy, skin issues, food intolerances, teeth grinding, and inflammation—often mistaken for other conditions.
Natural Parasite Cleanses Work Through Multiple Mechanisms
Effective parasite cleanses combine ingredients that attack parasites from different angles: pumpkin seed paralyzes parasites so they can't hold onto intestinal walls, other compounds prevent egg-laying or hatching, and some are directly toxic to parasites. Studies show 89-90% efficacy rates. The cleanse should be repeated after 10 days to eliminate any hatching eggs, and both partners should do it simultaneously to avoid reinfection.
Notable Quotes
"Number one, and this makes sense, Las Vegas. Oh. Las Vegas, Nevada. Now, that does make a lot of sense. It does, and they do have a lot of gyms."
"Bro, I gained 10 lbs of muscle. And like 10 lbs of muscles came on my body cuz now I could eat. I could suddenly eat"
"It's rare for you to catch a parasite in the next year but over the course of years, it's actually quite common that you may encounter and have parasites. And if you've never done a parasite cleanse and you're 30 or 40, now the odds go up quite a bit."
Action Items
-
1
Do a Natural Parasite Cleanse
If you've never done a parasite cleanse and are over 30, consider doing one using natural ingredients like pumpkin seed, mimosa seed, Ceylon cinnamon, and papain powder. Complete the first round, wait 10 days, then repeat to eliminate any hatching eggs. Both you and your partner should do it simultaneously to avoid reinfection through close contact.
-
2
Assess Your City's Fitness Culture
Look at the gym concentration in your area as an indicator of the local fitness culture. If you live in a city with low gym density, you may need to be more intentional about finding fitness communities and accountability partners. Consider how your environment supports or hinders your fitness goals.
-
3
Monitor Subtle Health Symptoms
Pay attention to symptoms that might indicate parasitic infection: unexplained low energy, new food intolerances, skin issues, teeth grinding, or persistent inflammation. If you experience multiple symptoms and have never done a parasite cleanse, it may be worth trying one to see if symptoms improve.

All right, they did a really cool study. They actually ranked cities in America and found the top most jacked cities. Where does your city rank? We're going to break it down right now and talk about which cities are at the top. Let's go. go. go. So, I'm I'm curious to how closely aligned this is to the longevity ones, since we know how protective muscle is Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. and and the benefits of that. Yeah. Uh it's very pro longevity. Uh-huh. So, is it almost identical as the longevity ones or is it not?
See, here's the deal. You got to ask yourself, how do they rank rank rank the most jacked cities? Is this study going around uh big cities and testing people's like muscle mass and strength? And probably body fat percentage. Or body fat percentage. And the answer is no. No, yeah. How do you do that? I said, where are they going to do that? Seems impossible. be very expensive. are they doing it? Like based off of gym memberships or something? Yeah, amount of gyms. Oh. Oh. Oh. Amount of like Arizona's, I told you guys have a lot of Okay.
Okay. Okay. Just relax. Just relax. Just relax. No, calm down. Uh they go around and what they're looking at with the data is uh two things, two factors based off of this one like a observational study. It was gyms, uh so strength training gyms, uh or concentration of strength training gyms. And then they also looked at uh protein consumption. So much protein. They looked at protein consumption. Yeah, like high protein meals and how much people eat meat and that kind of stuff. stuff. stuff. Okay. And so, they combined the two and came up with their list of the most jacked cities.
Now, I just I want to be clear, both of those are probably not going to give you uh what we would define as the most jacked city, which would be, you know, muscle mass, strength, mass, strength, mass, strength, Yeah. maybe body fat percentage. But, I do like uh this list because I think especially gym concentration, I think it's interesting, right? It is interesting because it does say something about the culture of a city because gyms are It's a priority. Yeah. So, yeah, that would make sense.
make sense. make sense. private companies. They're private companies. companies. companies. wouldn't last if people weren't going. That's right. Like gyms don't have huge margins. For people aren't familiar, they're not like big money-making companies. companies. companies. They can make a lot of money, but it's not like if you were to rank like gyms in terms of profitability in compared to other other other types of businesses, they're not It's also not near the top. It's not like a grocery store or gas station that we have to go to, so then just because of pure population it's going to have so many.
It's like people choose to go to the gym. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And they're not very profitable, so for a place to a lot of gyms to survive in that means a lot of people are probably going. going. going. 100% it's reflecting a high demand. If you got a lot of gyms in a city in comparison to other cities, what you'll see is a high demand for gyms. A lot of people pay the membership to go work out at the gym. curious too to see how some cities have shifted maybe like and added a lot more gyms over the years versus you know Good.
I wish I could look at That'd be an interesting thing, but yeah. Yeah, like how how much has it shifted over the last 50 years or something? Based on demand, yeah. That's a really good one. So, I'm sad to say that where we live is didn't make um um um didn't make that list. Although one city relatively close by does. And the reason why I'm sad to say that is we were brought up brought up brought up in the fitness industry in the Bay Area. We all started in the San Jose area.
And this was for me in the late '90s. I think you guys in the early 2000s. Mhm. And the gyms that we were a part of in the Bay Area were some of the highest producing producing producing gyms in the country by far. They like they set the standard for big box gyms back then. Right now it's probably different, but back then that's what just kind of like this was like the epicenter for profitable big box gyms. So, I'm a little sad to see that our cities didn't make it.
Although [clears throat] [clears throat] [clears throat] I know we have a lot of gyms per you know It's pretty high for the Bay Area. I mean it's centralized here in San Jose I would imagine we did pretty well versus you know Yes, but you it's in cities not states cuz I can see why our state wouldn't be up there because we're a big state and there's a lot of area rural areas Yeah, it's so spread out But our city our city didn't even make it huh?
The Bay Area didn't even make it. it. it. No, because again they're combining you know, they're combining gyms and protein intake. So I wonder if our protein intake is low. So random. Well, we probably I I'll tell you what we probably have one of the highest concentrates of vegan. Maybe huh? For sure. That's what's bringing us Here in New York would be wouldn't you think are probably two of the highest? I mean Oh, you know what? I bet you're right. You know why? Because LA Yeah, here's the deal.
Oh yeah, I know for LA and San Francisco have to be the highest highest vegan I know for a fact that's got to have thrown it off because for a fact LA has a lot of gyms. LA's got tons of gyms. Yeah. But they don't eat a lot of protein because you probably have a lot of vegans. Yeah, I got to lot of a lot of vegans. Yeah, I got to look it up. Where's the highest concentration of vegans live? Yeah, I mean you know what's I bet you California is up there.
And you know what's funny about that? I know LA has a ton of gyms but LA ranked 48 out of 50 for most muscular. So it's got to be the protein intake that just destroyed them. Yeah. Cuz you got a lot of low protein eaters Oh yeah, it's it's definitely trend down there. San Jose was 42. Wow. So and I know we have a lot of gyms. Yeah. We do. San Jose's got a ton of gyms. So it's got to be the protein that threw them off.
For sure. San Francisco has a ton of gyms too. It does. And San Francisco was 28. So Man, she's slipping you guys. are you guys doing dude? [ __ ] your protein intake man. Well, give us the Okay, where where is the highest concentration of vegans? Oh, well you did in the world? Uh well, [clears throat] no. I mean yeah. It it says New York New York, Los Angeles I had it right there. There you go. go. go. Wow. Uh Portland, Oregon. You know Oh, really? You know, I've been to those places Surprisingly places Surprisingly places Surprisingly and without knowing there's a lot of vegans just by walking around I would have guessed.
have guessed. have guessed. You guys ever been to Portland? It's pretty dudes. pretty dudes. pretty dudes. You know we have a lot of listeners from Portland though. Listen, I not saying anything like I'm not trying to say anything negative. I can just you just tell. You know what I mean? You can just tell when you see like you don't need a lot of protein. Well, that has to be it. So, that has to be if this if they used high protein, gyms, and whatever the metric was, that has to be what's bringing down.
Yeah, cuz if it was just gym concentration LA and San Francisco would be up high. It would have to be. Yeah. Yeah, but also highlights the importance of high protein. You could have all the gyms in the world. the world. the world. Yeah. You don't need enough protein. Not going to build a lot of muscle. I'm not maxing out my gains. All right, so go this way, Sal, since now we we've we've Give me the list off the top 10. Just list them all. Top 10 and then we'll talk about it.
Well, so number one when you combine both metrics, protein intake and gym concentration. By the way, I'm going to say one more thing about this that I don't I don't know if protein intake is the best metric because you may look at places that may look you may look at places that just overeat. Which might be Anyway. Yeah, it could be skewed. Yeah, but they combine this. So, in your experience, most people who who overeat It's carbohydrates. It's carbohydrates. It's carbohydrates. It's carbohydrates and saturated fats.
It's not normally protein. Yeah, it's a good question. I wonder if it's protein as a percentage of calories or if they're just looking at I mean, even if it wasn't a percentage, people that overeat, even my my biggest overeaters be hard to see. I would I would I would I wonder if in the South because they eat so much barbecue, if that would make it go higher. They also deep fry Twinkies. That's what I'm saying. I've had one of those one time. I've never tried one.
Have you really had one? I just can't Chicago, yeah, you can like fry, you bring stuff, you could fry it all at some place. It was good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They do that a lot of those state fairs. state fairs. state fairs. I'm getting diabetes at this time. it sounds gross, but I also know that nothing deep fried tastes bad. it till you try it. There is nothing that's gross that's deep fried. I know that. Everything's delicious deep fried. So, it's just like I Take the grossest vegetable, deep fry it, delicious.
Exactly. Good point. Exactly. Exactly. Exactly. Number one, and this makes sense, Las Vegas. Vegas. Vegas. Oh. Las Vegas, Nevada. Now, that does make a lot of sense. It does, and they do have a lot of gyms. I feel like Miami, too. I don't know. That's just That's number four. Good job, dude. Yes. That is number four. So, yeah, you have like a population all have to show muscle, right? Yeah, so so let's talk about Vegas for a second. Vegas has incredible steak houses. Some of the best I've ever been to.
Yeah. So some of the best food, yeah. All right, just super good. And then their gyms are incredible. Vegas is also, I would say of we've all been to a lot of gyms all over the country, country, country, probably one of the craziest when you walk in as far as like jacked fit people. I mean, it's obvious. Oh, yeah. It's not like a club. scene. Yeah, it's a very much so a scene. It's like crazy. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. What was that one? Did we go to a gym?
Yes. Okay, so my There's a There's a famous gym in Vegas that were all the influencers. So my brother-in-law and sister-in-law sister-in-law sister-in-law took my wife and I there years ago. We walked in and it was like, "Oh my, where am I?" It has like the '80s colored lights and stuff. Yeah, and they had the like Yeah, and they had the like a the grass, but there was like a slope, so you could like run uphill and drag things, and there's like crazy weights and Well, that was in Reno, that one.
That you're talking about. Was that Reno? Yeah, that's Reno one. Oh, okay. One we're we're we're We all went to one together. I'm pretty sure it was all of us together in Vegas, and it has like had like neon colored lights. lights. lights. Give me the names, dog. Powerhouse Gym, Las Vegas? The Strip Barbell, no. Dragon's I don't I know exactly what you're talking about. I'll remember it. Yeah. It was It was Remember that we were we were talking about how crazy all all the influencer all the if this was this was early on MindPump, and the amount of people we saw with like this was before it was like we had seen people with phones.
It was the first time I'd seen all kinds of people recording themselves working out. I hadn't seen that before. So just put best influencer I think that's it right there. Fit Club Las Vegas. Vegas. Vegas. it? I think that's it. Yeah, I think that's it cuz it had like So, that's number one. number one. number one. We also have a sale on some workout programs. programs. programs. Tucson, sorry. Tu- Tucson Tucson. Tucson Tucson. Tucson Tucson. My bad. My bad.
My bad. Tucson. I'm from San Jose. Tucson, Arizona. So, they had the most Again, they're they're ranked up real high. So, the the score that Las Vegas got on zero to 100 was 99.5. So, they crushed. crushed. crushed. Tucson was 92.3. So, they were there. And then next, Denver, Colorado. Yeah. Okay. Denver, Colorado. There's Colorado. Those two, if I recall, outside of this the jack stat is some of the most gyms per square like Yeah, just tons. Yeah, yeah. Where were we in Did we go to Denver?
Yeah. Yeah, we did, right? And we went to a gym there. Did we? I think we might have. We did. We did. We've been there a couple times. And sports is Is it there? Yeah. Yeah, I went to when he grand opened that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Then there's Miami, Florida. So, Miami, Florida is number four. Then you have Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mm. Then we have California making number six, Sacramento. Sacramento. Sacramento. Sacramento? They actually have some sick ass like you're going to go in there and lift some weights gyms.
Sacramento is got got got Mark Bell. I can see that. Huh. I would I wouldn't have I wouldn't have thought Sacramento. It's a very concentrated area, for sure. Yes. Then you have Mesa, Arizona. working your way towards NorCal, where people eat meat. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's right. That's right. Then you have Mesa, Arizona, Washington, D.C. They made the list. Okay. All right. I guess the politicians didn't throwing off enough. Tampa, Florida and then El Paso, Texas. The worst, Paso, Texas. El Paso, Texas. The worst, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Yeah, so they must just not have very many gyms. What's crazy about this is LA is 48. And I know LA is just It's but you saw the highest concentration of vegans vegans vegans what Doug maybe look this up what city in America has the highest concentration of gyms. I just want to see that minus the pro team. To see what we're looking at in terms of oh well here we go. I got it. Here we go and I got it right here. The cities that offer the most strength training.
Miami, Florida is a 100 so check this this is per capita, right? So per 100,000 people. Damn, Miami's got a lot, dude. 100 gyms per capita. per capita. per capita. 100 100 100 100 gyms per capita. That's crazy. That's why Arizona isn't Arizona up there? No. It's not. No, Atlanta, Georgia is next at 69 gyms per capita. What about Jersey, dude? All those gym tan laundry gym tan laundry laundry laundry Yeah, yeah, come on. That's got to rank up there. Las Vegas is number three at 65.
Tampa, Florida 56. Minneapolis at 48. Sacramento 45. Omaha 45. Denver 44. Charlotte 43 and then 43 Colorado. You know what's crazy about this? Miami first place 103. Second place 69. That is a lot that's a big discrepancy. I land there today. Man, we'll see if I see if see all the gyms there. Yeah, so that's what is that? 100 per capita. What is that? One gym per 1,000 people? Is that that's what it breaks down to? Right? Am I doing the math right? It's 103 per 100,000 residents.
Am I doing the math right? Yeah, so that's that's a lot. One per 1,000 people. That can't be right. That's wild. It's like on every corner. That wouldn't need a gym couldn't even afford to to to survive off of that. I mean I mean if you have a high enough demand, I guess. That's what they that's what they ranked it. Yeah, it doesn't compute for me. Yeah, that's a lot, dude. Have you guys ever been to a ever been Have you guys ever been to a Like what areas have you been to where you're like legit like oh my god everybody everybody everybody or looks like they lift weights.
Uh Las Vegas is probably like that. Austin was one. Wait, where were you in Las Vegas where you saw that? Just at the gyms? the gyms? the gyms? Yeah. Yeah, that's where I mean that I Really I mean we've talked about this before. before. before. besides gyms, obviously you're going to a gym. Yeah, but still though we One of the things What do we talk about on this podcast all the time? When we used to share this with our clients is like people are intimidated coming to gym and you like stand up looking around the gym.
Like show me Vegas is not like that. Yeah. I remember looking around Vegas and being like everybody looked like they were like a dancer or looked like they were a fitness model. Bodybuilders Bodybuilders Bodybuilders like that It was crazy. It was like Yeah, Vegas was crazy like that. But that was the only gym I've ever been in that I I really felt that way like everybody was like The only time I've ever been outside of it cuz I've been to gyms like that that are pretty hardcore and everybody looks like they're really into it.
But I Miami Beach Miami Beach Miami Beach But and that was years ago. Like I was in Miami Beach I was it was in the late 90s. 90s. 90s. And I'd never been to a beach Yeah, I had the same experience. And cuz you go to beaches and everybody looks normal or everybody looks regular. Every once in a while you see a fit person that's pretty rare. But I remember going to the beach going like everybody here like like really works out. Like everybody. I remember thinking that.
Yeah, yeah, I went it was like a spring break with like some of my friends who were from Miami uh that played football with me. Yeah, and it was just like he felt like you were walking around with a bunch of uh yeah, models like everywhere. It was crazy. This will be my first time at Miami Beach. So, we'll see uh what it is like for me. Vegas pools are like that. But it you're also That's a little bit of a bias. bias. bias. It is a bias because Well, so is Miami Beach, I guess.
It is. That's why That's why you That's That's why you're getting that. You're like it's not Those aren't technically all residents there. These are all people that are flying in to show their body off. So, I would think that Miami and yeah and I would [clears throat] think the also Vegas pools get that. You get all the fittest people that are getting in shape so they can show up to that place. So, that's a little bit different than walk around the streets. ever ever had. What's that What's that that very famous wealthy area?
It's not Billionaires Row? No, it's it's it's No, so there's Nice You got France, right? That part of France. Then he could take a train to get to the the lake. I No, Monaco. Monaco, yeah. Yeah. So, ever been to Monaco? No. Okay. It's on my list. We went to Monaco This was They have like Lamborghini cops. I want to see I want to see the want to I want to see the the famous F1 race there. Listen, it was the weirdest I've never experienced anything like like this in my life.
We were in Nice. This was years a long time ago. So, this is probably like I don't know, maybe 20 20 years ago. We went with Jason. Yeah, so I went with Jason back when he was dating What's her name? Yeah. Okay, so we went there together, all of us. We stayed in Nice and then we took the train train train and we went to like the famous We went to Monaco and then we went to the famous beach where beach where beach where Okay, it's the weirdest place in the world.
Yes, every cop car is a Lamborghini. Lamborghini. Lamborghini. And every car that drove by every car that drove by was a supercar. Yeah. There were no not supercar. Every car that drove by. Uh-huh. Then we went into the casino, which you have to pay a fee just to walk in. So, we just want to look. We paid a fee. I walked in. I looked at the first was a blackjack table and I see people stacking chips like putting them up. And then I look at the table.
Minimum bet 5,000 euro. Yeah. I'm like, these people are betting 30,000 This is back in the This is back in early 2000s. It's wild that it's almost like a theme park to watch rich people spend money. Oh, I was like And you guys Were you guys there just on a normal week, too? Just a normal week. not even like like when I supposedly like when F1 is there, it's like all the super yachts from all over the world are there. there. there. craziest The craziest part is when we're on the beach.
We're on the beach and I see like again, it's like a movie. I see this really This guy's probably 60-something years old, really tanned, like white chest hair, Yeah. speaking like Sicilian and Italian, okay? So, he's obviously Mediterranean. And he had like three or four, I don't know, supermodel-looking Yeah, and he's speaking Sicilian to like dudes that are like serving him, and I'm like Yeah, I'm like looking over at Jason, like, "That's That's a mafia." Then another Then another Then another This guy's connected. Bro, then there was a Then there was a sheikh.
So, he had like the the long, you know, turban thing or whatever. He goes out in the water. He's got five dudes with earpieces, and they stand around him and make space for him so he could go like Bathing in the ocean. Yeah, dude. I'm like, "What is happening here, dude?" dude?" dude?" A wild dude. Where am I? Straight out of a movie. It was straight up out of a movie. All right. I got I want to talk about so Adam, you were telling me about Canoli.
Oh, yeah. calling you. Yeah, he hit me up. I guess the their parasite cleanse is just exploding right now, and he asked if we had taken it, and I said, "No, I haven't taken it. I know I said Sal talks about that all the time." In fact, I said last year, I said he put me on something. I said, "But, you know, tell me about it." And then he was just saying it's been the reviews that they've been getting. And so, I wanted you to look at it and tell me cuz I know you You've looked into this before.
You've encouraged me to to do a parasite cleanse. I think Doug's done one before, too. Like, I think So, tell me what is it One, is it work? Yes. Okay. Yes. So, they have a parasite cleanse supplement. There's two of them that they've put together. They're all natural. So, natural. So, natural. So, yes, you can treat yourself for parasites naturally. Now, pharmaceuticals are like a nuke. So, if natural doesn't work, sometimes you got to go in there with the drugs. But, the the natural ingredients that are in their parasite cleanse have have shown in studies and have been used for a long time for parasite cleanse.
In some cases, 89% 90 something percent efficacy. Wow. And they have a combination of ingredients so they mimosa seed, pumpkin seed, Ceylon cinnamon, Ceylon cinnamon, Ceylon cinnamon, papain powder. Then they have another bottle that comes with ingredients that are to repair your gut. Okay, which is important because you get rid of parasites, a lot of toxins are are released. Parasites die off, can make you feel like crap. Then they have another bottle that comes with this that has stuff in there that heal the gut. And so it's not it's a combination of two bottles.
Okay. Stack the cake. Yeah, and they're and they're effective. I I brought up the data. I researched a lot of them, which I had in the past but I just kind of just refreshed my memory and they do work. They do work. So you can treat yourself naturally for parasites. Again, if it doesn't work then you got to go with the pharmaceutical route but for most people it will do a good job. But anyway, there's this belief, this myth that I believed for a long time.
I used to hear this all the time that parasite infections well, that's that's for like third world. That's those are third world issues. Mhm. Like we live in modern societies, everything's so clean. Right. Parasite infections are rare. So it's not a big deal. I was it more to like unsanitary like environments. Yeah, dude. Like you're going to go to another like you're going to go to a third world country or you're going to go to a some area, you know, with bad sanitary conditions and then they'll say make sure you treat yourself for parasites or watch out.
Only eat food that's well cooked, that kind of stuff. stuff. stuff. But if you live in America, what I thought was thought was thought was yeah, it's it's rare. It's actually not. It's actually not rare at all. It's rare for you to catch a parasite in the next year but over the course of years, it's actually quite common that you may encounter and encounter and encounter and have parasites. And if you've never done a parasite cleanse and you're [snorts] 30 or 40, now the odds go up quite a bit.
It's like one example uh this is a silly one. You also talked about like sushi eaters. If you're somebody who's a big sushi Listen, if you eat uncooked food uh which could be sushi it could be raw vegetables, fruit. Yes, it's all washed, all that stuff, but remember you you're doing this over years and years and years. And once you get a parasite, they ain't going to go anywhere. They're they evolve to live in your body. They're there. And they grow. Yeah, they could be tiny and almost microscopic.
spread. Like you have them, your family probably has them, you know, no big deal. Like uh pinworm is a real common one. Pinworm uh is uh like 38% of children who go to daycare uh have pinworm. Oh, wow. 38%. That's a lot. Okay. Okay. Okay. Uh the symptoms of parasites sometimes are obvious. So, this is when people te- tend to go get tested. So, they have really bad symptoms, like really bad gastro issues all of a sudden or whatever. But some of them are kind of subtle, kind of low energy, skin issues uh hormone issues, teeth grinding.
Teeth grinding, believe it or not, is a a sign uh of parasite infection. Uh fogginess, um food intolerances. Like I didn't have food intolerances, suddenly have all these food intolerances. Like that could be a sign uh of parasites, inflammation, you know, that butt. Yeah, that's a very That's very is it's one of the top ones for a kid. Yeah, pinworm. Pinworm will will do that. So, they're quite common. So, if you have never done a parasite cleanse, like and and this is all natural, do a round.
And what's funny, so I was talking to to Drew about this. So, they released their um parasite cleanse. What's the name of their product, Doug, so I can quote them properly? Yeah, so uh let's see here. It's called parasite cleanse kit. cleanse kit. cleanse kit. Okay. Parasite cleanse kit. Pretty straightforward. Yeah, very straightforward. So, I was talking to Drew and he goes he goes, "Dude, the pictures people are sending me." Oh, god. He gets pictures. I'm not surprised. I mean, we get Gross. Yeah. Gross. Yeah.
Gross. Yeah. So, you could get rid of parasites and notice nothing in your stool, but some people people people [clears throat] [clears throat] [clears throat] they're seeing stuff come out. Okay. And they're just like, "What is that? So this is where it it ends up typically is is in your poop. happens is when you take these when you take a parasite clean when you take their parasite cleanse kit, there are compounds in there that paralyze the parasite. So parasites will have to hook on or hold on as food passes through so they don't go through and get pooped out.
Yeah. Uh pumpkin seed for example is a very uh common uh or famous one cuz it paralyzes them. So they're suddenly they can't hold on and they come out your body. Uh there are other compounds in there that prevent [snorts] eggs from hatching or prevent them from laying eggs. There are other ones that are toxic to the parasite so they've combined a bunch of them kind of hit them from different angles. And so anyway, he was like, man, the pictures pictures pictures Oh yeah, he was taking pictures of people's poop.
He he sent them to us. I'm curious. Well, my personal experience is I had um gut issues. If you've listened to the show for more than 5 years, you know this. this. this. I had gut issues for uh uh uh I don't know, [snorts] two decades? Yeah. And they would sometimes get worse, sometimes get a little better, never completely go away. It was always a challenge. I could never really push my food intake uh because once I did, I'd have all these gastro issues. I couldn't even eat so many different things.
Sometimes I'd get issues out of nowhere. Um it really inhibited my progress cuz I couldn't feed myself properly. So my calories were always low. So you know, I couldn't couldn't couldn't you know, push muscle building or strength because every time I'd bump my food up pa- past a certain point uh after a week or two, it caused problems. I'd have to fast regularly to reduce the you know, inflammation and symptoms. This was just going on for a while. It wasn't until uh I did a parasite cleanse that I finally got better.
Okay, but everybody wants to know, did you see it in your poop? No, I didn't see anything. Oh, so there's a there's a chance like you you will get relieved of some of the symptoms but not see it in your stool. No, no, not everybody's going to see stuff. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. I mean if I if I took There's some resolve there though. Wow, it was you. I mean I feel like I I feel like you'd want to see I don't want to see nothing.
Yeah, I would. I would too. I would be like good, got him. Got you. Jumps out. Oh my gosh. Let's get back to the Oh my gosh. gosh. gosh. Hell no. Yeah, dude. So I was but it happened with me. So here's what it feels like when you do a parasite cleanse. This is what I experienced. I did the cleanse. I got way better. Then I had to do the cleanse like 10 days later because if you have any remaining this sounds so gross, right? If you have any remaining eggs, so you kill the main parasites, but there's eggs that may remain.
Then 10 days later I did it again to kill the potentially hatching eggs. And I got way better, but I was still kind of sensitive because my gut had to heal. Yeah. So it wasn't for like a month or two of me I remember when it's crazy. I remember when it flipped for you. you. you. Yeah, it was like night and day. Bro, I gained 10 lbs of muscle. And like 10 lbs of muscles came on my body cuz now I could eat. I could suddenly eat and and Which I make that you have to make that clear to the audience cuz someone's going to hear that and be like parasite cleanse made you gain 10 lbs.
It's like well the cleanse didn't do it. food that made me gain your your ability to now bump your calories 500 to 1,000 calories and put and push with your food. Hold it down, yeah. That's right. It was preventing me from being able to fuel what I was doing with my training. my training. my training. Yeah. And once I was able to eat and eat more, boom, I got Well, I yeah, I remember being motivated, but I didn't actually like do the parasite cleanse yet. Like I bought all the stuff, but it was because of the teeth grinding part that was like, oh man, maybe there is, you know, something related and of course I've had, you know, gut issues for quite a while.
So I mean, I guess it's time. it's time. it's time. Take the challenge. You eat all kinds of weird stuff. weird stuff. weird stuff. So if you do this, just give people advice on this. If you do if you get Organifi's parasite cleanse, you're going going to give it to your spouse also. Yeah, because you probably both you share I mean sexual contact, intimacy intimacy intimacy whatever can spread parasites. You sleep in the same bed type of deal. So, you do it, you your wife or your husband should do it also cuz what will happen is you'll get rid of your parasites They come right and your wife has them Get right back in.
and then yeah, three, four months later like my my symptoms are back. What the hell is going on? Yeah, yeah. It was because you passed them, you know, back and Justin, did you do that app thing that you were going to mess with? Oh, I I think so. So, um Dylan, did did we get that all uh set up? Okay. All right. So Well, tell us about this terrible this terrible this terrible So, yeah, I got one of my friends sent me this like uh last night and he was just like this would be kind of a funny thing.
He's thing. He's thing. He's So, some of my friends in college like they were I don't know. They were always like measuring and stacking each other like uh based upon like all kinds of weird like so how good you look in comparison to your other friends or like, you know, who's who's the most athletic or you know, whatever. You know, so [clears throat] we'd always have these like kind of debates and yeah, stupid crap like that. And so uh my friend actually sent me like there's like a specific kind of prompt you can send to like Cloud or one of those AI uh things and um it it ranks you and it like it gives you all this detailed report uh based upon like you know, symmetry or like wrinkle or like So, you do a picture of your face?
folds of your eyes or like yeah. So, it just it it scans and analyzes you and it gives you like, you know, a an attractive score. And then so I was like I thought it'd be funny if we just like Did you guys Do you guys remember pictures What could go wrong? Do you remember me Do you Hey, do you remember me telling you about this? So, when I went down, this was uh when did Kyle and I go down to the Hormozi school thing? A few months ago.
Yeah, it was a while ago. Probably six months at least. least. least. like that. It was a while It's been a while. When we went down there, I told you guys one of one of I was uh first of all, I was like the old guy. You know, all these young super successful kids like and one of the kids I ended up talking to forever. 19 years old. Wow, 19? Yeah, 19 multi-millionaire. Wow. And one of the things that he had created was he had created this app that score that you and you had to buy tokens to So, basically, if I whatever it was I don't know their exact price, don't quote me.
It was like $9.99 and I get five five faces that I could score. Yeah. And and so, but he developed it for plastic surgeons. So, they could use the software the technology and and the way I guess the way right now the the way that the the technology they use right now is kind of outdated and this this new technology that he had trademarked this formula or algorithm algorithm algorithm tell me how handsome we are or not. Well, and so, anyways, so he that was his So, that's how he made big money.
But, he got he was making tons of money just from all the people curious and just curious what they look like. actual plastic surgery, but just be like, "Man, let's do ours and let's see." And so, he was making millions of dollars just from the that market the just the open market of people wanting to score their face. Yet, it was developed for plastic surgery. And that's the way he he came up with it was he worked at like an office like that. Uh-huh. And so, he had he had seen he knew how they were using this this technology in order to and they were it was and he's like he basically developed a better technology through this app and the app gone went and viral from just kids sharing it wanting to get their score.
score. score. It's funny cuz obviously you see all the negative aspects of this. You know, like It's like really like going to push people into insecurity land. But, at the same time, you know, amongst you know, my friends who are all a bunch of ogres Yeah, I was going to say a bunch of old dudes who don't give a [ __ ] Yeah, yeah, we don't care. It's funny, you know. It's like especially when like you end up lining up right next to your ogre friend that you're like, "No way, dude.
Like, I'm way better looking than you." Well, I'm super nervous cuz you guys say that I'm the handsome one, but I have a feeling I'm not going to score very well. well. well. Well, I told you guys before like model symmetry is like the the distance of your eyes, your nose, the ratio, all that stuff like that. I'm a fat face now. now. now. Fat face is not going to work to my favor. favor. favor. Shut up. Chiseled jaw, Justin's jawline Shut your fat face. will outscore me.
Listen, I don't want to hear It's yeah. You're pretending to be humble. Well, it's you guys. I'm not good looking at all. all. all. It's not me pretending. Bro, I'm going to look backwards. I'm going to roll my eyes up. eyes up. eyes up. got to settle the score, dude. That's all I'm saying. I don't want to hear that [ __ ] I'm going to throw this out there. You know what's sad about this? Like if you want silver fox? I know. You're nervous. You're nervous. One person said said said One guy said butterface.
One person said You know who that was though, right? No. No. You dick. You're the one that put that in there? What a jerk. Actually kind of means you could have a nice body. Bro, it was like it was it was a joke cuz it was like they're like grossed out. So I'm like it's I was sending them to in my heart, dude. I felt I felt really like a guilty I had a guilty conscience about that. I told my wife, "Hey, be honest with me, babe." I was like one day I'll tell Sal.
You just did. I literally told my wife, "I'm like be honest, honey. Am I Am I a butterface?" butterface?" butterface?" I thought it was a fan, dude. I was like, "Oh my god, I I'm just roasting you, dude. you, dude. you, dude. Of course it's not real. It would've been better if it was a fan though. I know. I know. I know. I That's why I let it run for a while. I was like, "Maybe he'll think about it." He was going to leave it forever.
Yeah. On my deathbed I'd tell Sal, "By the way, that was me." Oh my god. No, you know what's crazy because what's what's obvious to me here or sad, I guess, is that if you want to make a quick buck, quick buck, quick buck, feed into human brokenness or or insecurity. insecurity. insecurity. Easy money. Easy money. Easy money. And it's so sad everywhere. It's so sad to me. They're like, "Here, you want to make a lot of money? Here. Here's it Here's how you do feed it addiction or insecurity or brokenness." Come up with a product that feeds it.
You got to tell them they have a problem. And problem. And problem. And look like a ton of money. Speaking of insecurity, did you see the Hormozi video that got pulled down? So is that really why he pulled it down? I don't know why. I have no idea why. Why do you think? I don't know, but you know who even watch it? I did. Okay, you did. And it's what's his name? I'm not going to say his name. I don't want to I don't want to make fun of him or say anything about it.
No, no, no. Tony Robbins. Did you watch Tony No, no, I know that, but the person commented on commented on commented on Yeah, yeah, but did you watch the real interview? interview? interview? I did. I didn't watch all of it, but I watched a lot of it. It was really good. great. great. great. really good. Which is weird as to why he would pull it. Well, I know what the speculation is. Is that he looked like, you know, like he was Yeah, vulnerable not super powerful.
He looked like the little guy. He was getting schooled. Schooled. In a good way. Yeah, but I could see how that would make him Yeah, I mean I think I think it made everybody needs mentors, right? I think it made him way more likable. Yeah. But we were speculating on why do you think it got taken down or did it it got it, you know, did he take it down? Did his PR person take it down? Did Tony Robbins and team have to take it down?
Like what is the most likely of the three? three? three? he explained Someone in the comments said Hormozi explained why he took it down. down. down. But I didn't look that up. He has? Someone in the comments said. I mean our team had looked at looked at it. I don't think they said they they had found that. You can you can put why did Hormozi take down his interview with Tony Robbins. Tony Robbins. Tony Robbins. Yeah. By the way, do you guys know That just side note, we'll go back to this.
to this. to this. Last Last Last few weeks I've had three different people tell me that I look and sound like Tony Robbins. Three different people. Seriously? Separately. The only time I'd ever heard that before was when Doug told me 20 years ago. Just recently? Yeah. Well, I mean Maybe your delivery, but not like your voice. voice. voice. Yeah, you remind me of Tony Robbins. I'm like I'd never heard that. That only heard that one other time. Then two other people did the same thing. That's interesting.
I don't know. I I take it as a compliment. Yeah, for sure. That's a major compliment. Okay, he took down his interview. This is speculation. Because it shifted from a promotion of his hustle culture brand to a vulnerable coaching session. coaching session. coaching session. Where it appeared That's the That's the scope. Yeah, but what did he say? Well, Well, I mean, if that pops up as the first thing, you would think it would be would be would be Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. We'll see. Yeah.
I don't know. But, I liked it. I thought it was a great I don't think it reduces his I think it only strengthens his exactly what it strengthens his authority. authority. authority. Vulnerability is Vulnerability is Vulnerability is That's genuine as well. You're more genuine. We built a brand on authenticity and being vulnerable and sharing our flaws and our weakness. He has not built a brand off of that. He has built a brand off of being an authority, an a know-it-all, a you're if you can't lean into being uh you know, working and being miserable, you're weak.
Yeah. So, that's been part of his mantra for the entire And so, it does make a little sense from a brand perspective. perspective. perspective. Yeah, put a big hole in all that. Exactly. From a from a humanizing and from a like I mean, I like him more because of that. And I think I think everybody I think a lot of people felt that way. But, if you've built your brand This is like so we have people, okay, in this space that we know, okay, that uh you know, built their brand off of being alpha, of being their brand off of being alpha, good fathers, all this sort of that, and they preach to everybody with that, and then end up getting a divorce or cheating on their wife or and it's like boy, and then you just see their [ __ ] When you build this whole brand around a a certain message, and then that gets dismantled or unpacked like it did in that interview.
that interview. that interview. girl that got caught eating a Yes. It just like versus when we when we started this and nobody was listening from jump the jump, we came from a place of vulnerability. that from coaching people. That's right. You have to do that. And so, and so, none of us in 13 years, okay, that we've been doing this, we've all had some rough years or mistakes. So, it's I just came off of sharing my addiction that I had, and it didn't It doesn't hurt us because I never came off preaching like I was perfect and that I don't have flaws.
also like you want to talk about a dangerous dangerous dangerous uh path is to build a bunch of get create a bunch of admiration and glory or we'll say love, but it's not real from the world based off of something that you that isn't real because it will and people will wait for you to come crashing down. Right. Uh what's his what's the guy's name? You think he's he's super funny. He also does kickboxing. He uh he was in uh Romania. uh Romania. uh Romania. Oh, Andrew Tate.
Okay. Andrew Tate, he's he's he's the comedy side of him is great, but he also puts out this persona that he's like this super alpha whatever. Yeah. And then he got in a kickboxing match recently and got his butt kicked. Yeah. Destroyed by in the comments. Destroyed cuz he pumps himself up as like I can beat anybody. Everybody was waiting for him to fail, yeah. yeah. yeah. Yeah, so it's like Oh, I thought he held himself so well after that, didn't I thought he did, too, but after he lost yeah.
people were destroying him and say cuz they were waiting for him. Yeah. They're waiting for him to fall. I mean, that's I don't know if that's a good example because like fights are fights are like that, right? You just saw Strickland's fight last week and like they're part of They build themselves up. They talk so much trash that They sell the fight. Yeah, to sell the fight and you know the best way to sell a fight you you need to make enemies on the other side.
You need to be you you you need to hope that you want Okay, Jake Paul's the best of that. Look at how much hate that guy takes on, but he knows damn well what he's doing. He knows he's bringing on. So the fighters aren't a good example of that. I think better examples are like these people that build brands around a persona that isn't their full truth. truth. truth. Yeah. Or they're still they're still scarred from childhood stuff and insecurities and they put on a front like it's not a big motivator or driver of who they are today.
Yeah. And so I think that's what happens is you put this facade on that you're this image or this person and it serves you so well. You get all this admiration and love for it. The irony is being vulnerable will get you more you more you more um [snorts] influence. If you lead with it, but if you've built a persona that is so big and powerful for that and then Especially if you talk down to people. Especially if you do that. That's what I'm saying. And I And so again, I don't know why this guy There There could be a whole host of reasons.
said it. Doug pulled it up. He said it didn't match his hustle uh brand. No, that was his speculation. It was still not him that said it. not him. He hasn't commented on that. I mean, that's That's exactly what we're speculating right now. That's exactly what I think. He's built this brand on You're If you can't do something hard and hate it, you're a [ __ ] Yeah. I I mean, I lean into that. This is suffer I'm suffering. I don't know the guy. Tony basically unpacked it and was like, "That's a terrible way to live." I don't know him.
I don't know his wife. I don't know them. I think they have great um information when it comes to building business, stuff like that. I don't know him. I don't follow him deeply, but the things that I have seen when he talks, it does come out to me that he's uh I don't know. I feel when when Robbins was talking to him, I was like, "That's what I've noticed. That's what I feel." That he's kind of lost and he's chasing something because he feels like he's lost.
Yeah. You know? So, maybe that's maybe why. Who knows? Yeah, no. I mean, he he admits being unhappy. I mean, he It's not like he's faking that. I mean, but that's uh again, I think that that the reason why I think the speculation is probably pretty pretty accurate. I mean, Katrina brought up another point. She's like, "You remember how how many NDAs we had to sign and stuff that we I mean, of all the interviews that we've done, done, done, we had to go through more legal stuff with Tony's team than we ever have, right?
To protect uh all his stuff." And so, there was a lot of rules that we had to follow. And so, her speculation was like, "Are you sure that his team didn't have him pull it down because something didn't didn't didn't what's funny about that? Just to give uh kudos to Tony. Uh when we talked to him off air or whatever, he was like he didn't he was very candid. Yeah. He was like, "Maybe that's why they put the NDAs." This guy kind of comes off as No, that's what I totally.
He's one I I would put him up there with one of my favorite people that we've met because for the most part, especially like Uber famous like him, don't live up to what you expect. You know, like uh I mean I've I've met Hermosi in person. I met when we met Robins, when we met Jordan Peters, Jordan Peterson was like this, too. too. too. Um They they they have this ability about it, whether it's authentic or not, I tell you what, it makes you feel like it is.
it is. it is. Yeah. They have this ability to make you feel important and and and that you're the only person in the room. Yeah. And as busy as they are and as famous as they are, everything else dissolves and it's like the attention is on and not a lot of like really uber famous people have that. Like most of them have kind of an arrogance about them, give two shits, like I'm busy, whatever. Tony did not come across that Tony did not come off that way at all.
Peterson didn't come off that way at all. Like they were two of probably my favorite people I think that we've we've ever encountered in that way. All right, I'm going to change directions here. So they just can't This is going viral right now and I can't wait to read this cuz I know Justin is going to love what I'm about to read here. Exciting. here. Exciting. here. Exciting. So yeah, dude, and I'm just like, okay. Is this more UFO stuff? No. No. No. Although I do have some of that.
Boom boom hitting it with the This This is a study that is out and they're like it's flying, okay? flying, okay? flying, okay? The single strongest personality predictor of conspiracy thinking is narcissism. Wow. narcissism. Wow. narcissism. Wow. Narcissists are particularly prone to conspiracy theories because they have a strong need for uniqueness, are prone to paranoia, paranoia, paranoia, [clears throat] [clears throat] [clears throat] and can also be remarkably gullible. Now here's why this is interesting. Wow, who wrote this? they just want the truth. Here Here's Here's what Here's what it No, no, let's break down the person that wrote this.
Well, it was a study. It's a study that they're showing. So here's the deal. Here's what I think 100%. I'm going to push back. push back. push back. And right now, this is why I think this way, is that can quote unquote conspiracy theorists like 10 and 0. I know. I know. I know. That sounds very narcissistic, so. No, they're just proving it. 10 and 0. You know, COVID was a wonderful time for conspiracy theorists. They all came out looking great. you this can UFO disclosures, Epstein with the you know what the quote unquote elite do.
Like it's all like conspiracy theories like they're batting a thousand Yeah. right now. [clears throat] [clears throat] [clears throat] So I think they're doing this to to try to marginalize people. Dismantle a little bit. By the way, conspiracy theorist was a term that was created by the CIA. yeah. [clears throat] They came up with it because of the JFK assassination. I thought it was the that was the it was the other one. It was the the other studies they did. The what's it called? Source within M.
Um MK Ultra? Yes, MK Ultra. Look up when did the CIA it was over MK Ultra. So I I thought it was after JFK because You might be right. But After he got killed everybody was It was you guys who I think dropped that knowledge on me. I did I wasn't aware of that. I'm We brought it up one time before. I thought it was a way to throw them off from MK Ultra. Yeah, no, it was because people were speculating like wait, this doesn't seem something's off.
Like this doesn't seem right. seem right. seem right. Yes, I got the official beauty report. For who? For each of us. All right, how did they put our Can you put it up on Can we Can just Duck put it up or not? Thanks, Dylan. Oh, yeah. Um Um Um Okay. Okay. Okay. I'll text it to you. According to this, the CIA did not invent the phrase. But they played So this is where this is where AI cracks me up. But they played a significant role in weaponizing and popularizing it in the 1960s to discredit critics of There you go.
Warren Commission's finding of the JFK assassination. assassination. assassination. The aim was to associate questioning the official narrative with irrationality and fringe insanity. So So maybe they didn't even create it. What year was What What What year was MK Ultra? Ultra? Ultra? Well, we didn't know about it for a while, but I believe that was the '60s. Yeah. I think it was in the '60s. after JFK? Yeah, but you remember See, people don't realize this. When when the first time first time first time that the 1953.
So I think that this is the first time it was used, Sal, and then it got popularized maybe in the JFK thing. I don't know, but but what I do know is that for the first time in American history American history American history uh uh uh the population largely questioned the narrative. It was like one of the first times where the population was like, "We don't believe this. This doesn't seem right." It was the JFK assassination. Didn't we what? What you got? Oh, so here we go.
Look down at the bottom screen. That's not a good picture of me. Pick a better one. 7.2, that's not bad. It's above average. 7.2 out of what? Okay. Is it out of a 10? Oh, wow. Look at all these scores. Out of 10, yes. All right. So, my friend did it last time. It was like 6. like like 3 or something. So, my symmetry, and I'm not even looking straight at the camera, guys. Symmetry 7.3, proportion 7.1, bone structure 7.6, skin quality 6.8. Wow, oily. Yeah, I think I'm oily.
7.4 for Justin. Well, how can Okay. Justin is more handsome. That's not bad. Winning. Yeah, you're doing good. AI likes you more. I've been nice to AI. Okay, so let's go for Adam here. Yeah, so 7.3, 7.3, 7.4. Yeah. We're all close. I don't know what we're doing. Yeah. Yeah, you even used my old Olympic picture. picture. picture. And you know why? My cheeks aren't as fat there. Yeah, maybe that's the factor, bro. 7.6. Oh, that's Crushed us. You're You're almost an eight, dude. Did you give me an eight in bone structure?
No, was that an eight in bone structure? Yes, eight. Yes, eight. Yes, eight. Oh, that's good, dude. Did they dog on there? No, they didn't do me. me. me. Put Doug in there and see what's going on. Let's do it. Don't put him in there. Let's put Doug in there and see what's going on. I mean, we're all kind of close. close. close. We are close. I'm barely more handsome. Dang, I was hoping for more Dang, I was hoping for more discrepancy. discrepancy. discrepancy. Yeah, you can't be talking like that.
I'm point I'm point two more handsome, dog. dog. dog. So, now you now you know you're a solid seven. seven. seven. So, I'm not even not even a full point more handsome, you know. But hey, we're all just a bunch of a bunch of mids. You know how much I care about No, I don't. Not at all. No, I don't. Not at all. All right. I want to find somebody who who in our team would be an eight or above? I don't know, but I bet Doug's going to be up there.
Kyle's pretty handsome. Doug's a Kyle's a handsome guy. Kyle's pretty handsome. He's You got to be careful. He works for us. What did you say? Will's Will's pretty handsome. heard Will's yeah. Will you stop ranking our staff on how they look at them? They work for you. Well, anyway, while we wait for Doug's results, I got to dude, I read This has to be one of the most crazy terrifying things I've ever read in a long time like a like a story which is it's it's actually it's crazy.
All right. So, let me read to you guys what happened what happened what happened to this poor young lady. young lady. young lady. So, this 19-year-old girl uh who went went into a coma for 3 weeks. weeks. weeks. So, she was in a coma for 3 weeks. [snorts] [snorts] [snorts] In her coma she lived a life that lasted 7 years. So, in her coma she literally she literally she literally a Black Mirror episode. Bro, and this can happen. I I looked [clears throat] it up. That's crazy.
That's crazy. That's crazy. This can actually happen. This it's rare, but it can happen. So, in while she was in a coma, she lived an entire life entire life entire life that lasted 7 years. In that 7-year life, she gave birth to triplets named them, lost one shortly after birth. When she came out of the coma she asked for her kids. And everybody's like the you don't have kids. What are you talking about? She's like, "What do you mean? I raised them. I raised my kids.
I lived with them. I had a whole life." So, this poor girl now is going through therapy. She woke up with grief because she had these kids that she loved and raised that didn't exist. What? How How old was she again? 19. 19. Isn't that crazy? That's insane. And she was in a coma for how long again? She 3 months. 3 months, but thought she lived 7 like 7 years. So, there was a a novelist Karen Lavette who wrote about her own coma in 2021. She also experienced this.
Dude, I would love to see her do one of those sketch artists and actually have her like describe her kids. how long was she in the coma again? Three months. Three months. Three months. Just it. Just it. Just it. Three months. But she lived seven years in her mind. So, another woman wrote about this that happened to her, too. It was in Psychology Today in 2021. She said waking up felt like being pulled violently from one world to another. Where she in now Here's the Wait, like she was in another dimension living?
living? living? ever watch Rick and Morty? You've seen it, right? There's this one episode where there's this arcade game and then they plug in and Morty lives this whole life as a little boy. They show him grown up, he has a family, he has a heart attack, comes out of it. And then he dies in old life and they pull a plug and he's like crying, like, "Oh, my family." It's like that, dude. Wow. I I It's so terrifying. Can you imagine? imagine? imagine? all right.
Yeah. Oh my god. I know. Yeah, I didn't know that was real. Like, I just I thought that was just some narrative like somebody came up with, you know, to make a cool story. No, apparently it happens. It's rare, but it can happen when people are in a coma. Yeah. It's It's the same thing as like, you know, you hear about uh when people hit their head really hard, get some kind of traumatic brain injury and all of a sudden they're a savant of some kind of like they can you know, play like or they can like speak uh Think about your some of your I mean, you guys have had probably dreams at night before that seemed real.
Well, not only seemed real, but also were like days long or like the dream that like the actual the dream only last two hours, but like it's a whole story. Yeah. Right? Could you imagine feeling like you lived seven years? know, that's what it's crazy. That's it. But you I I feel like I see you can see how that could play out. If like a If a night when I fall asleep and I could have three different dreams in that night and all three have a full-on plot and, you know, probably felt like a whole day each of them when it was really only really only really only Have you guys ever lucid dreamed?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. All the time. Really? When I was a kid, all the time. So, you could you knew you were dreaming and you literally manipulate literally manipulate literally manipulate I would do it I would I would fly. I would I remember when I learned how to do that. I remember as a kid like uh understanding that like like dreams were something bad was going to happen. I could I could change it. I could make myself wake up. So I can make myself I could make myself like in a scary dream You change the [clears throat] scenario.
Yes. Yeah, same. Yeah. So you know how I learned how to do it? It was from scary dreams. dreams. dreams. Yeah, that's that's what I'm saying. Because I'd have these terrifying dreams. There was a period of time when I was a kid when I was getting these nightmares and someone told me pinch yourself. You know if you've heard this, pinch yourself see if you're sleeping or dreaming. And so I remembered it in my dream I pinched myself and I'm like, wait a minute I don't maybe I am dreaming.
And then I jumped off a cliff in my dream to get away and when I hit the ground I woke up. So this I realized like that's a way to wake up out of a bad dream. But then I learned how to just wake up. And then it turned into well I'm not going to just wake up. I'm not scared this is my dream. Now I'm going to do whatever I want which is actually harder than you think because like the Matrix you have to believe.
Yeah. So I remember I would dream that I could fly and I'd start flying but then I'd question it and I'd hit the ground. Yeah. And I'd have to keep practicing over and over. But I haven't been able to do it in a while. Oh, you know I just remembered the the coma thing reminds me of inception on some level cuz it's like [clears throat] you're yeah the further down you go like the longer the time lengths. Did you ever see that one woman I don't know if you've ever seen this video.
I think she hit her head real hard or something like that and she came out and she had a Chinese accent. Yeah. It was almost like British woman British woman Oh that would be funny coming out of a British woman. woman gets Chinese accent from head trauma. You can see the video of her talking. Shut up. Oh my god. That's how she talks. Did you guys remember I this was a thing when we were in high school? Right here right here. After a stroke. She woke up.
Watch hit play this. Did you guys go to this free Hey when you did you guys go to school? Did you guys ever go to school with any like girls that like traveled abroad for like a summer or something like that and then we I had I remember I two different Yes came back with the accent. Yeah, yeah. It's embarrassing. Yeah. embarrassing. Yeah. embarrassing. Yeah. Yeah, it's embarrassing. It's like come on. You know what's the thing? It's called foreign accent syndrome. Yeah, but click on her video, dude, because I'm because I'm because I'm Foreign accent syndrome.
It's kind of messed up, dude. Listen to this British woman speaking. Cheerio. Yeah, no, no, no, watch it play. Okay, let me Watch. An England is a dead set home who now sounds like she's from Shanghai. It wasn't until I was in ambulance on the way to hospital. She actually said, "Are you aware of the way you are speaking?" And I said, "Oh, I sound like I have a sore throat." And she said, "No, you sound like you can work in a Chinese restaurant." Okay. Crushed.
Crushed. Crushed. Crushed. That's messed up, dude. Why are we laughing? I don't know. It's like It doesn't look right coming out It sucks cuz it's like, yeah. Like she's not trying to do that, but it's it's it's not like she's speaking It's not like she's speaking Chinese. That's why it's You know what I'm No, it's like broken English. If that ever happened, what do you guys I'm roasting all day long. But like Justin I would know. Roast him myself. Adam Adam wakes up with a Jamaican accent.
accent. accent. Something like that, dude. I would just be I can only hope for that. I would hope for something like that to happen. Oh my god, that'd be the best podcast. Make for great content for like the next year, dude. Are you faking it? Yeah, man. No, man, I'm not faking I would die. What are you doing, Adam? Oh my god. Hey, all right, I'm going to change the subject. So, you know, okay, Seed, you know, they make the their probiotics their main product, but you know, they have the multivitamin.
Did I tell you guys I take it. You like it? I take it I take it daily, right? I do, too. I take it it it It's a great It is a great multivitamin. And and there's new studies that are showing that people who take multivitamins regularly multivitamins regularly multivitamins regularly have lower biological age because because because and they're putting it to the multivitamin because of the nutrient because of the fact that nutrient deficiencies are deficiencies are deficiencies are so common. so common. so common. I I know it's like, you know, it's it's sort of association, but like my house has been consistently taking it um, for the last, I don't know, like 6 months and it was like no, like a lot of colds have come come and gone through, um, but we haven't we've been very healthy and and it's not like it's been not stressful.
I you know, multivitamin I I when I early days of fitness, I I was taught that it was a waste of money. Later, I was taught there was a study where and we've talked about this where dieticians were trying to create That's what changed my mind about that. a natural diet and they would they had like full, like full, like full, um, freedom [snorts] to like combine whatever foods you want. Yeah. How many calories does a perfect nutrient diet have? In terms of micronutrients, it was like 3,000 calories.
calories. calories. 3,500 and a serving of liver every week. I remember I remember this clearly Oh, they nobody changed it. It's what changed my mind on multivitamins. Yeah. The first half of, uh, my career as a trainer, I remember [ __ ] on multivitamins. multivitamins. multivitamins. That's right. Oh, it's a waste. You get it from you get all that from food, blah blah blah. blah blah. blah blah. Nope. So, you're basically deficient. Yeah. You're you're either deficient or you're just not optimal. What is So, what is it?
And so, it's like it's a inexpensive supplement that I think everybody everybody should take, uh, multivitamin. Seed multivitamin. Seed multivitamin. Seed such a good job with how they deliver the nutrients. So, you get Yes, cuz that makes a big difference. Uh, dumb question cuz I should know the answer to this. What is it in a multivitamin that will make you nauseous if you eat it on an empty stomach? Uh, I don't do that. It doesn't happen to me, but it does happen to some people. an empty stomach?
It's probably the B vitamins. Oh, it it That's not everybody? everybody? everybody? No. No. No. Oh, I thought everybody felt that way. take Bro, I can take Can you take a multivitamin on an empty stomach? stomach? stomach? No. No. No. Oh, I I can't either. I usually three out of four of us cannot. No, I totally can. It'll it'll make me nauseous almost 100% of the time. I know. I know. Especially if I do like, uh, caffeine empty stomach and that Oh, really? Oh, really? Oh, really?
Oh, god. That's like I've made that mistake so many times in my life where I'm just not thinking about it and I'm trying to be consistent. And I'm like, "I haven't ate yet." So, eating with a multi all those seed uh, the the delivery process, um, makes a big difference, but it's it is a good I I kind of want to experiment with that. if that. if that. if you. Yeah. I bet you it'd be better. But what I was saying is all multivitamins are probably better to take with food because of the fat that you have in the food with the fat soluble vitamins and helps slow down the the digestion so it can get where it needs to.
So it's probably a good idea to always take a multi with food. Yeah. But I I don't get nauseous from any I can take anything on an empty stomach. I can take all any anything else. It's multivitamins. Multivitamin on an empty stomach will make me nauseous when 10 out of 10 times. Yeah. I haven't because I know that and I've only been taking the seed for a couple of couple of couple of You take it with food? Yeah. I've I've known I've known to do that.
I take it after lunch time is when you normally see it taken. And so uh but that makes me curious to see if that one that one that one one one one Because of the way the capsules are done. done. done. Yeah. But I don't want to I really don't want to risk it. Cuz then you feel nauseous. Yeah. Cuz then I feel like [ __ ] for like 2 hours. Yeah. It's uh oh no, zinc. Iron and zinc. zinc. zinc. Iron and zinc. Uh cuz it irritates the stomach line lining.
Huh. Interesting. Okay. Yeah. I thought it was the B vitamins. Now the B vitamins are why your pee gets so yellow. Uh-huh. Yeah. Uh from them. Uh la- one more UFO thing. We've been doing the same thing for so long. Do you Do you see Japan is doing disclosures? No. Japan says we have information and we're going to start disclosing. Oh, wow. And they sent a So weird to me that all of us were on the same page of that. Like It's I think it's going to be our allies.
I think it's us and our allies are going to be So do you do you know what they released? A video So So So I know they've released information but is there anything significant so far? Apparently the stuff that's going to make us all shake in our boots is coming. Uh-huh. But so far what they've released are are videos and stuff that they're releasing. they're releasing. they're releasing. us right now. So So Japan had uh has these videos the government released of Remember they had their big earthquake that caused the Fukushima Mhm.
nuclear power plant that whole deal over there. Remember what year what that was? But when that happened 2012 or something. Was it 2012? I don't know. There were uh several orbs flying over the area that they were monitoring that then disappeared. And then, there's always a lot of speculation around UFOs and nuclear Anything nuclear. or yeah, any kind of natural [clears throat] disaster that they've noticed or like around nuclear plants and stuff like that, yeah. Oh, by the way, you know who else said that that that aliens are demons?
[snorts] [snorts] [snorts] Um that that one priest you talked about who was on that podcast. Uh-huh. Father Chad uh Ripperger. Uh-huh. Who does all the exorcisms. exorcisms. exorcisms. Yeah. Yeah, and he said uh if you actually look at what the aliens are supposedly doing, it is identical to same things the demons do to people who are possessed. If you strip the veneer of the alien aspect uh of it off, in point of fact, what you're dealing with is they're just demons. So, this is a This is an actual expert on demons.
That's it. He's a demon expert. That's it. That's us. So, there you go, dude. Yeah, we're doing well. The demons are coming. Getting new authorities in here. continued. continued. continued. What's up, Nathan? Good doing, eh? What's happening, dude? Hey, what's going on? Um so, about 6 months ago, I was almost 300 lb, and um so, I'm 22 now, I'm at like 195.
I'm 6'4. I'm 6'4. I'm 6'4. And uh so, what started it was, let's see, one day, I was like heavy drinking, you know, I was really unhealthy. My buddy hit me up, he told me I look rough, and I should do the 75 hard challenge. challenge. challenge. And that's what started it all. So, I did that, I used AI through most of it, and then and then and then turns out half that was wrong. So, It's weird. It's like, ah. Wow. So, I thought I said I thought I was eating 1,800 calories, it turns out I was eating around 1,500, 1,600 calories every day.
That's what I did when I started out. Um so, Christmas and Thanksgiving came around, I kind of dropped off, and then after that, I went on like a hard 1,400 cut for like a month. And now currently I'm sitting at 195. Uh chat GPT says around 14 16% body fat. And now And now I'm working out on a chat GPT provided uh workout plan and that's what I'm doing now. Cool, man. How are the calories right now? now? now? Wait, hold on. Why did you call us?
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Uh um Uh um Uh um So, I don't know where to go uh from where I'm at. I don't know what to do. do. do. Did you ask chat GPT? I kind of just stopped using AI altogether recently about a couple months ago. months ago. months ago. Hey, can we back back up for a second cuz I was reading your email and uh it was talk you you wrote in your email what your friend said to you. Yeah, he called me a fat piece of [ __ ] and then and then and then That's a good buddy right there.
I locked in. locked in. locked in. That's that's a Hey, it's good to have friends like that around. Hey, are you familiar with there's a there's a proverb proverb 27:17? It's like as iron sharpens iron uh one man sharpens another. It's it's so crazy cuz it's like like like you know, for people listening this guys get this. So, women listening are like, "Oh my god, your friend said that to you. I can't believe it." But like when you got a close buddy, it's pretty interesting what they could say to you that'll that'll get you to move in a in a particular direction.
So, he must be a good friend of yours for that to to work. work. work. Yeah, he he's doing it got me kicked. So, like a week later after he said that I locked in. I went cold turkey on alcohol cuz I was drinking every day for like 2 years. I went cold turkey on that. I got lucky cuz apparently it could be there could be serious health problems with doing that. Yeah, good for you, bro. First off, yeah. yeah. yeah. Uh like um incredible [clears throat] discipline.
Uh that's that's a hard thing to stop. The alcohol plus the eating, those are both both both ways of self-medicating uh something. So, phenomenal. Now now where you're at now uh it's there's a very clear path to getting you to a place where you're going to feel way better, way stronger, and it's going to be much more sustainable. Yeah. Okay? What we need to do is we need to do it Have you Have you listened to the podcast? Have you heard us talk about reverse dieting?
reverse dieting? reverse dieting? Yeah, so okay. So, for me listening to y'all stuff since January, I started reverse dieting in in the middle of January cuz I was at like 1,800 calories. So, right now I'm maintenance seeing at 3,000 calories right now. Oh, bro. Good job. And you're Are you lifting weights or you still doing the the the garbage 75, whatever it's called? called? called? Uh yeah, I'm lifting weights. I'm doing some strength training by like AI. Okay, dude. How many days a week are you lifting right now?
Um I try to go for three or four. All right. Is it full body or is it like a split? Uh so, I listened to y'all stuff. I switched to full body. Okay. Good. Good. How's your strength? Um Um Um I get I can um um um bench 205 for two reps. I can squat 235. Okay. Uh How was this really How was this How versus how you started? Like how big of an improvement was that for you? I've seen a lot of strength gains cuz I started around 125, 130 on bench and I'm halfway close to 200 now.
Yeah, dude. Yeah, you're doing good. Yes, and are you seeing pretty good strength gains through the reverse diet? Um yeah, yeah. I feel so much more better, way stronger. I bet. Bro, you're killing it. Are you Are you maintaining weight too at 3,000 cal Are you holding you around 195? Is that where you're at? I'm fluctuating between 180, 185, yeah. Oh, bro. And eating 3,000, you're doing good, bro. You're doing great. So, what are the challenges that you're you're running into right now? Are there any challenges or are you just asking us to see if you're on the right track?
So, right now I feel like really small. I want to get bigger. I don't I feel like really skinny. All right. All right. Yeah. I'll send you a program that'll help. Yeah. We'll bump your We'll compare it to two you've been holding if you've been holding your weight around 185 190 and you're and you're at 3,000 calories, we can jump to 3,500, put you on a program and and then you'll start gaining. Mhm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, jump So, jump So, jump with that. with that.
with that. Yeah, yeah, we let's let's What's your protein intake at? You hitting at least 200 grams? 200 grams? 200 grams? I think around as far as my weight between 200 to 225. Oh, you're great, bro. Let's put you on Mass Power Lift. Yeah, I'll do that. Let's get you strong as hell, bump your calories between, you know, 4 to 500 calories. calories. calories. And let's get you really strong. And then there's a second part to your question, you might want to be a trainer? trainer?
trainer? Uh yeah, I was looking into the being a trainer. I got a CPT workout like a certificate training course and um I've been studying up on that. I've listened to every podcast so far for the Academy podcast. Academy podcast. Academy podcast. Good. I've listened I've done the 30 days of coaching and I've listened to over 100 episodes of y'alls. of y'alls. of y'alls. Oh, good. That's great, bro. So, you got the NASM CPT? Is that Is that what you're on? you're on? you're on? Uh it's called Action CPT, a cheaper version.
Have you Have you finished it yet or are you just getting into it? Uh I'm still in the middle of taking my classes. Okay, good deal. After that, look at our course cuz it will teach you how to build your business. And I'm just just to encourage you, Nathan, um in my experience, one of the best ways to maintain what you're doing, including the sobriety, is to train other people. Like when you start to pour cuz right now you're you're fixing you and you've done a great job, dude.
This is like incredible success story. Mhm. Mhm. Mhm. Uh but one of the best ways to maintain that is to pour into other people. Is to help other people through this process and through that, that'll give you so much more. It's so rewarding, especially if you like people, especially if you want to help people, especially if you feel so blessed by what you've been able to accomplish. Being a personal trainer will be so amazing for you dude so in so many different ways. You're doing really good, bro.
Yeah. Doing really good. Especially from where you where you where you came from, how hard you went, and then to be back up to 3,000 calories, holding your weight, that's you're in a good place, dude. You're in a really good place. up I didn't really have a mentor and anybody to look up to, so I didn't really have like a career or future to choose. And then I started listening to the uh I was like it like snapped in me. I was like, "Damn, I want to be a personal trainer." It was like a fun Oh, that's awesome.
What a blessing, bro. What an absolute blessing. You mind if I ask you a couple of cuz cuz there's someone listening right now who I think who could really benefit from hearing hearing hearing more about your story. Do you mind if I ask you a couple more questions? Yeah, that's fine. Okay. How is your How do you feel emotionally, mentally now versus before? Cuz obviously you're not self-medicating with the food and the alcohol, but now you're working out, you're eating, you're strength training. What's the difference in how you feel, lifestyle, all that stuff?
Um I feel great. I don't feel as much stress as I used to. I mean, I feel I'm I feel like I can move more every day. I don't feel lazy anymore. I don't feel like sitting around the house like I used to. I want to get out and do something. something. something. And uh I basically just want to be more productive and keep moving, to be honest. That's great, dude. That's great, bro. Thanks for calling in, man. Yeah. Yeah, we'll send over the Maps Power Lift to you.
Bump your calories to about 3,500 calories. Maintain that through the whole program. You want to get back on in 3 months? I'd love to talk to you again. Yeah. Yeah, I'm down. Yeah, I'm down with that. All right, cool. Let's do it, bro, and keep us keep in touch with us. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we're four back. 3,500, follow Power Lift, just get strong, and then watch what happens in 3 months. All right, man. Appreciate y'all. You got it, brother. Bro, great story. Yeah. Great story. What a what a testament to just how resilient the body can be at a young age like that.
Yeah. You know, to be able to cut that hard hard hard cut, yeah. that aggressive, and then instantly he could be back up to 3,000 calories. You also are looking at it's not just the cut in calories. What you're looking at was the amount that he was probably drinking cuz we didn't get into it, but it sounded like Yeah, it must be it was it was a problem. It sounded like it was a problem. Uh the the the how damaging that is to the body because and the reason why it sounds like it's a lot is because he said the way he stopped could have been dangerous.
dangerous. dangerous. In order for that to happen, you have to be drinking a lot. Well, and to put on that much weight on a that much weight on a 6'4 body frame is that young of an age means you you've you're putting down calories. calories. calories. just not just not even just that like there's a certain level of alcohol consumption where it gets so bad that if you cut cold turkey you can actually die. die. die. Yeah. Uh because of the withdrawal. So, he must have been drinking a lot.
So, the switch thankfully it it what he was okay with it, but it made him so much healthier which is where we get a lot of resilience. Yeah. Um and it's just such a incredible um success story. But, I do love how he talked about his friend. And you know what? This is just listen I'm I'm I'm saying this Look at that spark though, you know? is a difference between men and women and how we receive certain information and guys know this. If you have a buddy that you trust they can say things to you nobody else can say.
Super blunt. Yeah, and it can snap you into action which is uh which is great and I'm I'm glad that it worked for him. Yeah. And I can't wait to hear about his success and to be honest with you guys just between us like I want to keep hearing about this cuz these are the kind of trainers I want working for us. Like these kind of success stories. So, Our next caller is Cindy from Connecticut. Hi Cindy. Hi Cindy. Hi Cindy. How you doing Cindy? Hello.
Hello. How are you? Good. How can we help you? Good. I um I have a little bit of history. First of all, thank you so much for letting me be on here. I have a little bit of history to tell you. Um Um Um not not too remote, but in uh 2024 I began taking tirzepatide for weight loss. loss. loss. And during this time, I would listen to your podcast and um I would listen because I wanted information on muscle building because I knew that fast weight loss can stimulate um muscle loss.
So um So um So um um um um I knew I would hear that you said um that you needed to bulk to uh to uh to uh gain muscle. And as I listened to that, I was like, "Oh, baloney." I didn't like that. I listened to everything else you had to say, but I just kind of was like, "No. No." During that time, I was a family or I am a family nurse practitioner and I owned my own practice. And I was prescribing semaglutide. And I would also always tell my patients, "Make sure you lift weights, eat eat eat at least 100 g of of protein." Now, I know that that's not enough, but um from my own experience.
And um And um And um So, I would impress that upon them. But um fast forward to uh March of 2025, I found out I had breast cancer breast cancer breast cancer and I had have a double mastectomy and then breast reconstruction. So, during that time, weight lifting was not an option. I stopped taking the tirzepatide, which is is what most people know as Zepbound. So um So um So um So, during that time, I couldn't lift weights because I was I had one surgery, couldn't lift weights, had another surgery.
So, 2025 was not that great for weight lifting. weight lifting. weight lifting. So um I started lifting weights um in November for about a month. Um in June of last year, I found out that I had um um um osteoporosis. osteoporosis. osteoporosis. And I declined the medications and wanted to do lifestyle to uh to uh to uh see if I could reverse that. So, my endocrinologist, God bless her, sent me to uh physical therapy. And I had been reading about the Lift More trials, and I knew I wanted to do that you know, once I found out I had osteoporosis, I realized that you you really have to lift heavy.
So, So, So, I was concerned about um hurting myself, and my plan was to hire a personal trainer. But she sent me to PT. During this time, I sold my uh practice cuz I you know, when I found out I had osteoporosis, I was like, "That's it. I'm done." Sold my practice and I'm going to be a gym rat and garden. That was my plan. So, I um I the um I went to the physical therapist, and I started out um training and December 5th was my first day.
I barbell squatted [sighs and gasps] 55 lb, 55 lb, 55 lb, and and and just this Monday, I I uh barbell squat 110. So, I'm increasing. Deadlift is started out at 75, uh ended up at 115. But [snorts] I um in December, I had a DEXA scan cuz I wanted to see exactly how much muscle mass I had, not so much for for bone density. I already had that, but fat and and muscle mass. So, I had um I had gained 12 lb during this time.
I was trusting the process, but I gained 12 lb. 12 lb. 12 lb. And um And um And um I 7 and 1/2 lb of it in 13 weeks was muscle. Nice. Very good. And I I'm 61 years old. I'm 5'5, or they tell me 5'4 5'4 and 1/2 now. But um I started out at 153. And I'm now 1 164. So, I um I have been consuming 130 to 150 g of protein without fail daily. Good. Since I guess November. Um I'm eating much cleaner.
Um my calories have been about 1750 per day. For the past 5 weeks it's been about 1900. And I've gained I think 5 lb in the past month. Um I walk a lot. And um but I'm increasing that now that the weather's getting nicer. But I I want to know am I at a point where I could start to cut calories? cut calories? cut calories? No. Cuz I'm still I'm still gaining weight. weight. weight. No. No. No, you're still too low. Cindy, let let me We still got to go more.
Yeah, first let me start off. I you're so lovely. Uh I really appreciate you calling in. Um and I like you a lot. And I think you're moving in the right direction, but you're scared of the scale. And I'm just going to tell you if you we got to make a choice here. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What's more important to you? Bone strength and longevity or the scale? scale? scale? You got to make a choice right now. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. If I was coaching you, we don't even need the scale.
I would not let you weigh yourself cuz that's going to mess with you. with you. with you. Okay. Okay. Okay. Definitely not in a place to cut. You're You're at 1900 calories. Where are we going to go? 1400 calories? We'll see a little bit of weight loss, and then we'll plateau, and and we'll stop all the strength gains and muscle gains and increases in bone density Progress, yeah. that we're that we're we're seeing. Bone density increases follow uh strength increases. Now, muscle mass is a proxy for strength.
So, muscle gain is great. The best measure uh is or the best correlate to bone density is increased tension on the bone which comes from strength. Right. Right. Right. So that's what we're looking for is strength. So if you're going to track anything anything anything Yep. it's going to be strength. That's the most important thing. Are you working with a trainer by the way? Or you you're working with a PT to do all this? this? this? Right. Well, so I was working I'm I was working with the PT since December up until Monday this week and I'm done I'm done with her Okay.
because Okay. because Okay. because insurance paying for it because I have the osteoporosis diagnosis. Got it. But um it it it you know, they're not going to let me they're not going to pay for a personal trainer. trainer. trainer. Yeah, yeah. So I'm I'm pretty independent I'm I'm I'm independent. I know when I need to, you know, increase the weights and stuff. Um and I I have a membership at Planet Fitness with my son with my son. So we're we're going to be going there. So I have a couple of questions about that cuz now I'm going to be by myself.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I have to be able to you know, cuz I never thought I could lift as heavy as what she showed me. I never would have done it if I didn't hadn't had a trainer. trainer. trainer. Yeah, yeah. And you're and you're going to get a lot stronger than that. Are are is working with a trainer once a week feasible? Um Um Um well, I have a lot of ideas. There's I there's a new gym in our area that has like group No.
Um No, no. No group. No, no, no. You got you need one-on-one attention. So but but I need to know if it's feasible cuz then I have some other potential options for you. you. you. Well, I don't know what what resources it would Okay. So typically where are you located? I might have better Connecticut. Okay. So a personal trainer's probably going to cost you anywhere between 70 to $100 a session. [snorts] [snorts] [snorts] A good one. So you're probably looking at 300 4 to 500 bucks a month.
4 to 500 bucks a month to work with a good trainer. And the kind of trainer that you're going to want in person is someone with a correctional exercise background and someone with experience training people like you. Okay? Okay? Okay? Okay. So, that's what you want to work with. with. with. Right. And so, those are the questions. How long have you been training people? Uh and uh have you been Have you trained a lot of people like me? In fact, if you go into a gym, the best way to find this out is to talk to the fitness manager.
And you're going to tell them, "I want to work with a trainer. I will hire a trainer, but here's what I'm looking for." for." for." Then the fitness manager will know who to set you up with. Um and then you could take it from there. But, you wouldn't need more than once a week with a trainer. That's your That's your best option. If that's not an option or that's not feasible, then for under a hundred bucks a month, you could join our Muscle Mommy group, which I think you'd get tremendous value in.
And that's more like virtual coaching. It's virtual coaching, but you're meeting We have once-a-week meets in there. It's all women. Most a lot Most of them are on reverse diets or working on very similar goals as you have. And so, it's an incredible community of other women trying to build muscle, uh reverse dieting, and uh one of our best coaches, two of our best coaches, are in there and they're in there weekly meeting with all the ladies. And so, that would be a great option. Uh obviously, in person, like Sal's recommending, Yeah, cuz that would be the best.
the best. the best. Yeah, cuz that would allow someone to to actually take you through the exercises Yes. and watch your mechanics. and do all that stuff. And it's How long have you been How long were you working with a physical therapist? Since December 5th. Okay. So, I I mean, if you strength train and do it well and work with a coach for the next, let's say, 6 months to a year, that is about as long as it'll take for you to be able to get a really good feel for how to perform exercises and how to um um um progressively overload yourself.
It does take that long. So, people often think, "Well, I just need to learn the exercise." But, there's a much longer learning process with knowing what it feels like to go heavier and how to lift properly and all that stuff. So, it would be about 6 months to a year. But, once a week is all you would need, and I'm not joking. You would only need once a week with a trainer. And then, another day a week, you could go to the gym and do the easy strength training stuff.
Mhm. So, you could leave the easy exercises for yourself to go in. And so, you're only going to strength train twice a week. That's it. The rest of the week That's all I have done. Yeah. Good. That's good. That's good. That's good. And all you would do the rest of the week is walk. And you would see nice consistent increases in strength. And I would want you to eat more calories. I I I still would want you to bump your cal- I think it would a good start would be to go up 200 calories.
To to A good start would go up to 200 more? more? more? Okay. And then and then then the goal would be to stay there. And then, when we start seeing strength increases and or this is where the coaching is nice, right? Is because I'd be talking to you on a weekly basis. If I hear you telling me things like, "Man, Adam, my appetite's increasing." That's a good sign to me. That means our our metabolism is kicking up. And then, I'd probably bump you again. Yeah.
So, I'm watching both strength and I'm listening to you with appetite. And if I hear appetite increases, I'm bumping calories. If I start to see strength gains in the gym, I'm bumping calories. So, you can support that continued growth. growth. growth. Yeah. And so, and this is what just to comfort you and encourage you a little bit, this is what fat loss looks like when you do it through strength training. You tend to go up first before you see the fat loss. Right. Okay. So, so, so, it it And that why?
Because the metabolic rate kicks up with the muscle. Then, the fat loss starts to happen. Weighing yourself on the scale is going to mess with your head through this process. I promise you. Yeah. know. I know. I know. I know. You're right. You're right. You're right. But, I will say this. Uh building bone, and I have more questions for you that I'll get to, but building bone is as predictable and consistent as building muscle. building muscle. building muscle. It's not this mysterious weird thing like, oh my god, how do we do this?
It's literally It's literally It's literally as consistent and predictable as building muscle. building muscle. building muscle. Barring any crazy autoimmune issue or something like that, okay? It's very I've done it so many times with people. And the two things that prevent it from happening are inadequate nutrient. So, it could be not enough calories, that's very common. It could be a nutrient deficiency. Sometimes the women that I would train were so afraid of eating too much fat that their fat intake was too low. And so, I'd have to bump their fat intake.
In other words, Cindy, I don't I wouldn't want you eating anything less than like 65 g of fat a day. I don't know what your fat intake looks like. But if that About 85. About 85. About 85. Okay, you're good. You're good. You're good. good. good. I document everything. I have it. I, you know, being a nurse practitioner, I have it my calories, the protein, it's all I have it so dialed in. And I'm sure I don't really know what to do with the fat and carbs, though.
Whatever feels good. to be a very low carber. Yeah. No, whatever feels good. Whatever feels right to you. We would So, what we I would do with you is I I would play with the two of them. In other words, you know, one week, the way we get those extra 200 calories, I would bump your fats and I'd ask you, how does that feel? How's your digestion? How do you And then you give me feedback. Do you like eating that? And hopefully that If you don't, then I'd say, hey, next week, let's let's get those extra 200 calories with carbs.
with carbs. with carbs. And then I'd say, how do you feel? All the same questions. And then we do something somewhere in the middle, half from carbs, half from And like, really, cuz at that point, if you're hitting protein intake, you're hitting a good minimum number of fat like Sal said. You're hitting 80 g, you're doing good. So, if you're doing if you're getting the minimum I want of fat, you're getting the what we need protein, then we can really divide up the the carbs and fat however you like.
Yep. Yep. However you like and whatever makes you feel better, whatever And and most importantly since the main thing we should all be focusing on right now is strength, that's actually what I'm wanting to know the most from you is like, "Hey, which ones are fueling those workouts?" When you eat 200 g of carbs or something, does that all of a sudden make you have great workouts? Or does it not? Does it make you feel lethargic and you don't feel good? So, I would like to hear your performance from messing with those.
those. those. Well, it's funny. Um Um after I wrote this letter to you that So, that was about a month ago. Um I started getting really, really achy and fatigued, you know, and not achy like like like you know, you know, you know, like DOMS or anything like that. Just like this joint hurts. This spot hurts. So, now it moved over here, blah blah blah. So, I was talking to my my um trainer and she said, "Why don't we deload you?" Yeah. So, a couple of weeks ago we did instead of doing four sets, we did two sets for two weeks.
two weeks. two weeks. feel better? feel better? feel better? I did. I felt a lot better. Good. But yeah, so I I went back to my full um thing. So, it could that be I needed more calories or just just it was just time to just take a break. be both. be both. be both. It could be both. Yeah, so they they've done studies on deloads and uh well-trained athletes like young men, okay? Well-trained athletes. So, we're talking about even a a category where they have even greater recovery and all that stuff.
The groups that do the deload week build uh 20 to 29% more strength and muscle than the ones that don't. Mhm. So, it's just the recovery thing. yeah. Now, lack of calories can definitely hamper recovery, so could have been both. Uh but I think it it your Whoever your your physical therapist was totally right on point. Uh and and I'm assuming you're supplementing with all the essential nutrients. You probably have your vitamin D levels tested and all that stuff. that stuff. that stuff. got all I I'm I take um essential amino acids.
I read that um the essential amino acids that are not the branch chain amino acids not not only help with osteoporosis because you build muscle, but they also support osteoblast activity. And suppress osteoclast. That's right. And I was like, I'm buying it. I'm taking more. I'm spending a lot of money. Are you taking taking taking Are you taking creatine? Uh yes. Good. Good. Yeah, 20 20 g a day. Oh, you're killing it, good for you. I'm very puffy. No, no, no, you're doing great. You're doing great.
And for for bone for bone density, you don't even need 20 g. Shilajit Shilajit Shilajit Shilajit, I take that, too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're doing great. You're You're doing everything right. You're doing good. Yeah, we just bump the calories. Uh work with a good trainer. And I know it's a large investment. But it will set you up. It'll It'll set you up forever. If you can't do that, at least get in the Muscle Mommy movement and you will get a lot of value for that. Here's the perfect This would be the perfect formula, Cindy.
I'll give you the perfect perfect formula. Uh you would work with one of our coaches in what we call concierge coaching. And here's what I here here's why that's would be a good uh addition. They'll help you with the reverse diet. They'll help you through the process, and that's what they'll focus on, the nutrition aspect of it. They will also be able to coach you to find the right trainer. Whenever I recommend somebody go find a personal trainer, there's always a piece of me, and I hate to say this cuz this is my field, but there's always a piece of me that's like, man, I hope they find a good trainer.
Because there's Yeah, with the Lift More trial, not I mean, not everybody knows about that cuz you got to lift heavy. It's not just that. There are a that. It's not just that. There are a lot of trainers that know exercises. But there's not a lot of trainers that know how to train people appropriately. It sounds like the physical therapist you work with was good. But there's a lot of trainers out there that they'll just beat you up. They'll just put you through a crazy workout, make you sweat.
Uh they don't understand correctional exercise. So, if you working with one of our coaches in conjunction, you can ask them uh questions, and they'll help coach you to find the right coach uh that you could work with. Then if you work with both of them, them, them, you're you're perfect. You've got not You've got the diet, you've got the workout. Maybe give yourself 6 months of this. At the end of that, you can reassess. Do I feel like I'm good going off on my own? It is a large investment, but it's it's not a forever one.
And then you're And then you'd be totally set. And then Oh, then here's the other question. Are you on uh Nolvadex or any Are Are Are they doing anything hormonally with you? Are they blocking estrogen receptors? Do they do anything like that? Um they Tamoxifen. My oncologist wanted me on estrogen blockers. I wouldn't go on it. Okay. My I'm a bad patient. I um cuz you know, what am I going to do? I'm going to take this medication that's going to turn me into a 90-year-old in 6 months, and I won't be able to lift a feather.
Yeah, yeah. Okay. Okay. Now Okay, we're good then. I was just a There was just another consideration. another consideration. another consideration. Yeah. I have another question. I I went I went from um deadlift at 105 lb to 115. I don't know if that was too big of a jump or if that was too big of a jump in a month. Um but I just I feel like my lower back is so tired. When I first started doing deadlifts, it was like I had a new life, and I could I could empty the dishwasher without straining my back.
I could feed the chickens without straining my back. I could, you know, everything was easy. Now I feel like my back is like vulnerable. Yeah. It It It depends on your technique, the intensity, how you're progressing. I'd have to watch you Right. to know and the frequency of that exercise. Yeah. So, let me do this. Uh let me have one of our coaches call you. They can answer more questions. Concierge coaching, uh when they call you, you say, "Hey, Sal mentioned concierge coaching." Essentially, you would meet with them uh monthly, and they would work on your nutrition.
But then they'd also coach you on finding a good coach, and then they can work together together together for you. I I want you to do that or the Muscle Mommy Movement at the bare minimum, Sydney. Because even with that, so to what you're asking about the deadlift, you're you're one of our trainers would have you video yourself deadlifting, and they'd be able to coach you virtually and say, "Oh, I noticed this." And they'll be able to look at the way you move and be able to give you some some feedback, at least.
Obviously, coaching with a trainer in person, that's good. Is ideal. But, if at the very minimum, having someone with a virtually will help, too. So. We're going to help you through this. Okay. Thank you so much. I really enjoy your show and thank you for, you know, how you stand on your faith and everything, you know. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I appreciate that. I love that. I do, too. I I appreciate it. I am I like how you you you you talk about it, you know, Jesus said that, um, that, um, that, um, you know, any man declares me before men, I will declare him before the Father, and you're doing that.
That's awesome. Thank you so much. And you you are doing a great job, Cindy. You you you you wait you see, if you do this right and you're consistent, and you train properly, train properly, train properly, uh, you're going to see your bone density improve. It's very, very predictable. predictable. predictable. Thank you. You got it, Cindy. So many people say, "Oh, no, you can't do it on your own. Can't be done. Can't be done." You're doing it. I've done it every single time I've tried. tried.
tried. it. Stay the course. Yeah, it it takes work. It's easy to take a pill or take a shot. That's right. Right. Yeah. Well, great job. 100%. I hope I see you with our 100%. I hope I see you with our coaches. If if they if they end up working with you, I'll pop in and say hi. hi. hi. Okay, great. Thank you. Thanks, Cindy. All right, take care. Bye-bye. You know, I'm so glad she said that last part about bone density. Um, the reason why it's so hard to increase bone density is cuz it requires systematic application of proper strength training and proper diet.
And it takes coaching. It is not a prescription. You tell you tell the average person with osteoporosis or osteopenia, uh, "Oh, you got to go lift weights and then make sure you eat right." Uh-huh? What what does that look like? Weight bearing exercise? Uh, I guess I'll wear a weight vest when I walk or maybe I'll go try something. They don't know intensity, they don't know exercise. know exercise. know exercise. conversation. conversation. conversation. And then And then on top of it, often times, uh this is people who are afraid of gaining weight.
And so then like her, her calories, they weren't even super low, but they're still too low. And so you have women I've trained I've worked with so many women who've come to me who've been osteopenia. I also said before osteoporosis. They're like, "But I lift weights." I don't know what's going on. I look at the diet. You're not eating enough. Yep. Let's bump your calories. Boom, bone density goes up. Yep. Our next caller is Rodney from Wisconsin. Wisconsin. Wisconsin. What's up, Rodney? What are you doing, Rodney?
Rodney? Rodney? Hey guys. Um thanks for thanks for thanks for all the content and everything you do. Um Um Um I'll just jump right into it cuz I don't want to forget something here. Um Um Um [clears throat] [clears throat] [clears throat] All right. Um 49 years old, 6 ft and 210 lb. lb. lb. I'm a husband and father of two girls ages 10 and 6. We are quite busy, especially now as I coach both girls softball teams and the oldest is in travel. Uh I con- consis- consistently eat 200 g of protein of protein of protein and I'm currently eating about 3,200 calories a day.
I average 10,000 steps a day. I take magnesium glycinate and ashwagandha and my diet is about 90% whole foods. I work 4 10-hour days as a delivery driver for a major soda brand, which can be quite physical. Um Um Um prior to last September, I was training for ultra marathons and did that for about the past 5 years or so. And I would run anywhere from 30 to 80 miles a week. Um and I also lifted one to two times a week, too. Um I realized I enjoyed being in the gym more than running because it felt like a part-time job and so I started Anabolic.
Um I recognized that that was too much. So I switched to Maps 15. At first I was skeptical thinking it wasn't enough, wasn't enough, wasn't enough, but [clears throat] my strength started going up going up going up in the gym and at work and I I just felt more energetic overall. Um Um Um so the beginning of this year I started working on sleep, which is difficult cuz I wake up at 3:00 a.m. for work. Um Um Um but I'm trying to get in bed by 8:00 8:30 now.
8:30 now. 8:30 now. Um Um Um Ultimately I ultimately I'd like to get to 15% body fat cuz I just feel like I'm doing all of the the right things. Uh so I started Symmetry 15 on a cut at 2,500 calories. 2,500 calories. 2,500 calories. Um Um Um [clears throat and cough] but I started to feel more sluggish at work and at the gym. So I pushed my calories back up to 3,200 and it was like instantly within a few days I felt better, stronger, lifts were going up again.
Um Um Um so so so I feel like I'm ready to take off. I just need the right flight plan, you know what I'm saying? Um so I keep trying to push up the calories and then just cut them slowly. Um my thought was Power Lift 15 after this. this. this. Um I'm in phase three right now Symmetry 15. 15. 15. There's two approaches. Uh so you got a pretty busy life. You move a lot because of your job. Mhm. Mhm. Mhm. Your sleep is not optimal.
I know you're working on it, but you know, you're probably getting probably getting probably getting 6 and 1/2 hours uh most nights, right? Um which is Yeah, at best, right? So that's that's really plays a big role in recovery [clears throat] uh and stuff like that. So there's really two approaches with this. this. this. Approach one one is you you you hover around 3,200. You manage your sleep. Like focus on that and just let your body slowly improve. The option two is you bump your calories uh and see where that where that takes you and how do you feel.
What you don't want to do is go on any cuts. I don't I think a cut for you would be not a good idea whatsoever. You'll feel it right away, which you like you did. Which I did, yeah. did, yeah. did, yeah. Yeah, so I don't think it's a good idea to go on a cut at all. So, you could stay at about 3,200 and just kind of do this nice this nice this nice You know, recomp uh and really try to get the sleep. That's going to make the biggest difference.
Uh but mass 15 protocol is best, dude. I wouldn't add any additional exercise because your activity and your lack of sleep and just stay nice uh and consistent with that. And then again, you could play with increasing calories. You could bump it to 34. to 34. to 34. And if you feel better and you're stronger, um then stay there. Then just stay there. Definitely don't do a cut. Okay. Okay. Okay. All right. That's it. I Yeah, I think you're doing really good. It's uh I I if I have a client who has a lot of discipline around eating and if I tell them, "Hey, let's go up to 3,500 calories." and they can do that through good food choices and that it's not difficult for them versus a client who I tell to do that to and then all of a sudden it gives them permission to eat treats and do other [ __ ] that's the client I I I would say, "Stay at your 3,200." But if you feel like I could bump to 3,400, I'll do it through whole foods and I don't have a a problem keeping that discipline to do that, then I think there's some value in increasing calories and seeing if you notice a difference in performance inside the gym.
gym. gym. Yep. And and keep going that direction cuz what that will do is if if you see an increase in performance by bump counts, it also might improve sleep. And then all of a sudden we get to a place where you're eating 3,600 calories and you're not putting on body fat, now we're at a place where we can come back down to 3,000 3,200 calories and you'll lean out and you'll still feel satisfied. And so that's kind of the other Those are the two options I see here.
I see either just hovering where you're at cuz it sounds like you found kind of this spot where it's like anything lower you don't feel good, so I don't want to cut you from there. 3,000 calories for a 6-ft 200-some pound guys, you want to be eating around that. Like I mean even uh when I was at peak competing, I never like to get below 2,500 and that's trying to get crazy for a stage and that's unhealthy. So, most of the time I'd want to be [clears throat] well into 3,000 plus.
And you're an active guy, so those would be the two options. If you want to try and play with the calories, bump them. I would only just caution you if you're the type of person who know when you Oh, I got to bump calories, so all of a sudden you start eating out of bounds and 3,400 turns into 3,900 or 4,000 quickly, 4,000 quickly, 4,000 quickly, then maybe that's not the best strategy. But if you're if you're good, I I'd push you up if you were climbing.
Yeah, I I don't I think you'll feel better with adding 200 calories. How many days a week? How many days a week are you working 5 days a week? 4 days a week. 4 days? On your 3 days off, what does your sleep look like? It's better. It's better. It's better. How How How How is it better? How How How How is it better? Um Like what time do you go to bed and wake up? wake up? wake up? Pretty much right around the same time cuz I'm so tired.
So, I try to get sleep those days 9:00 9:30 and I'm in bed till 6:00. Okay. Your Your Your best Your best bet is to try and keep it consistent all week long. Mhm. Uh and what's more important is uh going to bed at the same time. So, sleeping in a little bit's better than going to bed later. What you don't want to do is throw off your circadian rhythm. Cuz here's the deal, it's very your because your sleep is so is so is so uh it's kind of sub par consistently, it's very touching it's very touchy.
So, on the days off, if you're like, I want to sleep in, go to bed at 8:00 and sleep in versus go to bed at 9:00 and sleep in. Okay. It doesn't sound like a big difference, but for someone like you that's kind of on the edge, that would make a better impact. impact. impact. Rodney, are you going off of just feel or do you have any metrics? Like do you have like a Fitbit or Oura Ring or any of those things any tools like that to track sleep?
track sleep? track sleep? Uh just a Garmin that I wear. Okay. Is it Does it have sleep? Does it Does it have sleep? Does it give you It has sleep. Yeah, it gives sleep scores and Okay. I've been really paying attention to that a lot lately. So Yeah, I I mean, for someone like you, I find a lot of Like I sleep has been my main focus for like the last 6 months. I've been really tweaking things and and I think just having a a feed a tool like that uh to give me feedback of oh, I you know, I made sure to hit my magnesium.
Oh, I noticed I turned the TV off by this time. Oh, I had dinner at this time and like and paying attention to those little minor tweaks. I I know it sounds like a pain in the butt, butt, butt, uh but um in your case because uh this this is like a it's very difficult cuz you wake up so early, it is an area of focus. Yeah. So cuz I know it's like oh my god, I got to go to bed at 8:00 and you know, it's like a big pain in the butt.
But that's like the big like your training is good, your diet is good. Uh [snorts] the thing that you could that you if you focused on that would cause the biggest improvements, it would be sleep. be sleep. be sleep. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, I definitely feel like I could push the calories more cuz I feel like I'm always hungry anyways. Oh, for sure. Yeah, that's a good sign then. That's a good Yeah, go to go up to 3,400 calories. 3,400 calories. 3,400 calories. Yeah, bump the calories and let's see what happens strength-wise for sure yeah, in the gym.
Okay. Yeah, like the sleep thing it's you know, during the week when I do work it's like I'm happy if I my sleep score is in the 70s, you know, so Yeah, yeah. No, I feel you. No, that'll be the biggest impact, dude. But yeah, bump the calories. After you said you were hungry, for sure bump the calories. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right, Ryan. was pretty easy. Yeah, it is. Good job, dude. Well, not but not really, but Yeah, yeah. No, good good job good job with trusting us, by the way.
It's not easy for an ultra-marathoner to look at mass to look at [clears throat] mass 15 and be like that's my workout. Mhm. Uh Yeah, I know. It was like that's it? Yeah, but I'm glad you trusted it, dude. So, good job for that. Yeah, definitely. definitely. definitely. Keep it up, brother. All right. Thanks, guys. All right, Ryan. You got it. Yeah, that's good. I'm uh everybody looks at Well, not everybody, but especially people that history of just working their butts off with with workouts. Looks at Mass 15, two exercises, that it?
We just recorded an episode the other day about Maus 15 and just it's been such an interesting journey. Like how we I mean, look how long it took us before we wrote a program like that and then the results that are people I mean, it really highlights the listener that we get. It's it's just it's the it's most people. You know, when you look at the data on volume and training the majority. The studies are done on college-aged males uh who are who don't have all this stuff going on.
The average person's got a family, a job, Yes. stress. And it's not that it's this intensely stressed thing that's happening. It's just cumulative, dude. This is how I been living. factor it in and it does make it Bro, I've been living like this for for 10 years, 20 years. Yeah, it adds up and so uh you just need the right dose. And more than that, sets you back. Yeah. Our next caller is Robin from Maryland. Hi, Robin. How you doing, Robin? Hi there. How are you guys?
you guys? you guys? Good. How are you? How can we help you? Well, I'm going to read just to get us started. Um I've listened to you guys and your podcast for many years. My daughter turned me on to your content um years ago and I really enjoy what you guys have put out. Um Um Um I'd love your advice for someone in my particular situation. I'm a 60-year-old woman in menopause. Um I'm between 5'5" and 5'6". and 5'6". and 5'6". Right now ranging around 130 to 134 lb, which to me is a little higher than usual.
I work as a real estate agent, very busy. Um and 1 week every month I'm also the primary caregiver for my elderly mother. So my schedule is pretty unpredictable. Um generally eat pretty clean, but probably only getting around 1,700 calories a day, sometimes less. Realizing that on some of those days I may not be getting enough protein as well. Um, started tracking my macros again in the last few months trying to get myself back on track, trying to steady the bit of weight gain I was seeing seeing seeing um, and just feeling overall frustrated.
Um, feel like I'm not making progress aesthetically um, especially since menopause. Um, I know strength training would be beneficial for me to get back into and maintaining muscle and overall health, but I struggle to stay consistent with lifting because of my workload and caregiving responsibilities. responsibilities. responsibilities. Though when my kids were younger, I was an avid lifter. I was at the gym all the time um, and I'd love to get myself back to some version of that same self. Um, love your advice on how to finally see the aesthetic changes I'm looking for again.
again. again. Things seem exponentially more difficult in this stage of life struggling to find balance of health, longevity, and aesthetic goals. Um, would love your input on how to finally start seeing physical changes in my body, protect my hormonal metabolic health. I want to be strong and healthy as I age, but feeling like I need some guidance and frankly a definitive plan. Thanks so much for your consideration. consideration. consideration. Thank you so much for calling in. By the way, did you say 60? You look phenomenal.
phenomenal. phenomenal. Yeah, you look great. I am 60. I just turned 60. So you're okay, so I'm going to ask you a few more questions about your background a little bit with nutrition. Would you say in the past you've always been someone who kind of watches their their their their diet so they don't gain weight? Is Is this like a pattern for you that you've always kind of I've never needed to even consider it. I've always been very active active active um, um, um, the weight I am now is probably the most I've ever weighed with the exception of being pregnant with four children.
So, me seeing those numbers now, I think that's the part that frustrates me because it's harder for me to maintain where I've always been. Okay, are you afraid of eating more? Um Um Um not afraid. I mean, concerned because I know my activity level as far as being consistent with my lifts and my workouts fluctuates. So, I have these conversations with my daughter frequently and she'll encourage me, you know, the same philosophies and I think she called in a few weeks ago. You guys talked to her as well.
Um I understand I understand I understand what the philosophy you guys have to build build through it. So, um I know that's right. It does concern me, but I try to just not let the self-chatter get in the way. Yeah, cuz you would you definitely are eating too little and I don't think you're inactive even if your workouts are inconsistent. Just based off of what you said uh and your schedule is so busy. I don't think you're think you're think you're uh like a sit sit around and do nothing kind of person.
You're moving a lot. Um your calories are too low to try to build into what you want. So, everything your body's holding onto body fat because your calories are too low and you can strength train all you want uh but what's nothing's going to happen unless we feed the muscle. And so, the way it'll look and way it'll look the way it'll look and you'd have to get off the scale and not look at it for a little while cuz it'll mess with your head. But the way this looks when you do it right is you build into the body that you want, which means the scale may move up a little bit, but then that metabolic rate kicks in and then the fat loss starts to happen.
If we don't do that, we're just going to be spinning our tires uh in the dirt. You're you're just going to be staying in the same place and nothing's going to happen. Um you could cut your calories and you'll just end up losing muscle and energy and you'll will feel terrible. And so, what what's happening right now is your your your body is just holding on. You're eating just enough to stay where you're at. And what that's going to feel like is going to feel like burnout and fatigue.
Uh because your body because it's just not enough. not enough. not enough. Especially if you start to add strength Especially if you send a signal to burn calories Especially if you add more stress on your body, which is what exercise is. That's why it induces changes. It's a It's a type of stress. It's a good stress. But without adequate consistent nutrition, nutrition, nutrition, calories and protein, it's just not going to do anything. And so what this would look like, uh and this is easier said than done, would be a a nice controlled monitored controlled monitored controlled monitored reverse diet.
reverse diet. reverse diet. And through that process, uh proper strength training. And what we're looking for are strength gains. That's what we're going to want. We want strength gains. And then that's what's going to make you feel like your body's working for you again. And what it feels like when people do this right, people in your situation, is the comments that people come back with is I can't believe this is working. And I'm getting leaner. I don't even feel like I'm trying. Is what it starts to feel like cuz your body's working for you.
Right now you're kind of fighting your body. Uh and a lot of it has to do with the fact that you're just not eating enough. She's also also also mentioned aesthetics. So what about like I mean thyroid and testosterone? Are you Has your doctor prescribed you thyroid or testosterone? Are you on anything right now? right now? right now? Um no, they've not. But I started working with a functional medicine doctor several years ago. Went through a lot of the testing. I was having some gut issues, so we did the Dutch test among other things.
Um I actually did a 3-month complete cleanse where I was gluten-free, dairy-free, histamine-free all at the same time. Um hard, but I'm a rule follower. So if it's what they told me I needed to do to get to the other side of it, I just did it. I felt great. I did drop a little bit of weight, but probably at that point I wasn't having the same considerations I'm having right now. I just feel like the further along I get in menopause, the next birthday or whatever, I'm just, you know, watching numbers change and I don't know.
I just I don't like it cuz I don't like the overall um composition of my body right now. That's probably it more than anything. You would get remarkable results remarkable results remarkable results uh if we if you allowed yourself to build. build. build. If you fueled it properly and allowed yourself to build muscle, you would get really good, nice, consistent results. Hormone therapy could be a cherry on top, but not necessary. I've worked with so many women in menopause uh hormone therapy or not. Um any other hormone therapy helps, but it doesn't uh it doesn't come close to proper strength training and proper nutrition.
nutrition. nutrition. feeding with the extra hormones, it's not doing anything, but hormones with increased calories and strength training could be absolutely magical. Yeah, totally. I what what would probably benefit you will probably definitely what would benefit you, Robin, is to work with somebody through this process. Cuz a reverse diet is it's great, sounds great on paper. You you you you understand the philosophy, which it's you know, as you said, like you understand our first philosophy, it sounds right, but there's a difference between knowing it in your head and then knowing it because you've experienced it.
it. it. Uh it's a very scary process. Oh, you want me to eat more? You want me to eat more? Like what's going on here? And I'm working on I'm getting stronger, but I feel bigger, and that's not necessarily what I want, and it it's a really difficult process for someone to get through without a coach coaching you through the process of doing it. You had said something you just said something like um you know, I'm good at taking direction. If you're good if you're really good at outsourcing this and allowing a coach to coach you through the process, uh that would be your best bet.
And then they would take you through this process. And the reverse diet typically looks like, depending on the person, uh, 100 to 200 calorie increase, and then we stabilize, and then we do it again, and we monitor your strength training, we look at your strength, uh, gains and how you feel, and then depending on that, then we can bump it again. But with your activity level, your size, what you're looking to do, you're probably going to end up somewhere around 2,300 or 2,400 calories. calories. calories.
At least. At least. At least. And [clears throat] that's that's a lot more than you're eating now. I would argue higher. I'd argue 2,600 to then you'll eventually come back down if we want to lean out from there. But there's no way I'm cutting calories until I get you up over 2,600. No, I mean, if you just went up to 1,800 calories right now, you you'd feel you'd feel great. feel great. feel great. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But I I I think it might mess with your head.
head. head. I say, you would and you wouldn't. You'd feel great maybe in the gym and how you perform, but psychologically is the hardest part here. Super. Whenever I take somebody on a reverse diet, especially if we're in menopause and stuff like that, it's the water weight fluctuation, the the dips in energy up and down, a lot of this stuff starts to mess with my It's a constant conversation of like, we're doing the right things, trust the process, I got you. All right, it's not the first time I've seen this.
Stay the course, we're going to come out the other side. Uh, you know, can I ask you some more questions, Robin? Would you say that you're the kind of person that's like, uh, you kind of grab your hands around everything? I manage this, I manage that, I manage that. Okay. Okay. Okay. You got to outsource it. You got to outsource it, honey. I I don't I don't think adding more things for you to manage and control is a good idea. It's a lot of mental stress, for sure.
I think it might be a good idea to just, here, give it to you, and then you tell me what to do, and I don't need to think about it, and I'm just going to trust you, and I'm going to trust you until I realize I don't need to trust you anymore because I can see it's working. And that's probably going to take about 6 months. 6 months. 6 months. So, if you know that about yourself, um, Um, I would work with a coach. Right. And I I mean I used to years ago when I was at the gym all the time, I started with a coach.
Um, did that for gosh, quite a while and then became such good friends with the coaches that we became workout partners. And they were like, you push me as hard as I push you. Just come in, you know, we'll come in the same time and I'm just going to jump in with you. And then that's how I trained for the next, gosh, probably eight years. That's wonderful. But, you know, my life changed and um, um, um, you know, things things happened. Um, a divorce came into play and I at that point um, point um, point um, had to kind of adjust things that I was doing and I became um, or I stepped away from being a stay-at-home mom with our four kids and started in real estate.
So, at that point I was growing a new business, um, which has been wonderful to me, but I kind of sacrificed that other love that I had, um, of the gym. And so, that's kind of to me right now is what's frustrating. I feel like I'm comparing myself to what used to be and trying to figure out how can I can I ever get there again? And not that I need to get there again, but at least to feel confident and strong and um, Oh, this is this is this is also one of those things that we cannot just will ourselves there to.
It's more of a delicate dance. delicate dance. delicate dance. When we when we're talking about hormones, everything you have on your plate right now, where we're at calories, um, calories, um, calories, um, this isn't a matter of you pushing yourself harder or being so much like it's a it's different. It's different at the stage of life you are at right now and I think that's the value of the coach. A good coach will be able to coach you through that process as we have these setbacks and changes in schedule and the like it's just just Robin.
It's also just Robin. Sounds like you've taken care of people for your whole life. And uh, you you to let someone take care of you a little bit. Yeah. And so, I mean, you could try handling all of this on top of everything else that you're doing, but I don't know if that's a good idea. It sounds like you got your hands full. Um I've worked with people who've taken care who've been caretakers for their parents. parents. parents. Um and I know what the the what that place is on an individual.
There's a lot of things to manage there. Um and plus you got a business. Uh so, you might want to just I I really think your best bet is like, I'm just going to give it to somebody. Can you take care of me? I'll do what you say. I'm not even going to think about it. And uh and then let's just go. And then 6 months into it, what will probably happen is you're like, oh my god, this is working. This feels good. And it's not scary anymore.
And then and then you're set up. Yeah, I think that um probably would be helpful. And I guess in the back of my head, I kind of knew that's um the direction I needed to go. But, you know, I am who I am and try to take care of things myself and do as much as I can on my end. But, I also have the personality to kind of push myself harder Mhm. than I should in that moment. Um I had a situation 2 years ago where um I hadn't been working out.
It was, you know, end of January. I'm feeling guilty that I hadn't been working out. I got back into running, started running some. Um running on the treadmill with some elevation, trying to get my 5 miles that I had kind of intended I was going to just I'd work myself up to. Started having some knee pain and I did my entire self-talk of pain is the body's way of releasing weakness. weakness. weakness. Keep going. This is you get what you get. You did this to yourself.
Get get to the other side of it. By the end of the um by the end of it, I had a stress fracture and I was on crutches for the next 6 weeks, not completely non-weight bearing. So, that's a little bit of my personality and I know it's not it's not you know, at this phase of my life, it's not necessarily doesn't hit me the same way it used to. No, Robin, you you yeah, that has worked I can relate. Yeah, you went through a divorce, you built a business, you're taking care of mom, kids.
Eight grandchildren. Yeah, yeah, that that works until it stops. Yep. Yeah. So, I think the the good news is though you're you're a great client. Yeah. So, somebody like I mean you know what I'm saying? Yeah, you don't you don't lack discipline and I can you know uh you'll be you'll do really really well. You're going to you're going to kill it. I got I prefer a client that I've got to pull back rather than Yes, yes. 100%. yes. 100%. yes. 100%. need great direction and a good quality coach.
I think 6 months uh would be a good start. I think 6 months would be a good start. We could reassess there. I can have um one of our guys call you uh who manages this and what they'll be able to do is identify who the best coach is for you to work with. And then let's go 6 months. And let's take it from there, but I I don't think it's a good idea to free to manage all this on your own anymore. I appreciate that.
Yeah. Yeah. And then I'd love to check back in with you. I'd love to hear where we're at. Yeah, we'll see you in the coaching. I pop in. Yeah, that would be great. I'd like that. Okay, Robin. All right, I'm going to have someone I'll have someone reach out to you. Yeah, yeah. Excited for you. This will be good. Thanks. Okay. Robin. Robin. Robin. Yeah, dude, like uh um there comes a point first off like uh divorce was stay at home, built a business. She's taking care of her mom, she said she has eight grandkids.
Oh yeah, go manage your reverse diet, manage your workouts. Like let's just add more stress to on your plate, which is all this managing everything. I mean when you're a badass like that though you it's what's one more thing to Yeah, take it on too. You feel like that. Yeah, but she's at a point now where she's like this isn't working. She'll be a great client though. But I'll tell you you I can tell the thing you she's the type of person I'd be like no, no, no, we're just going to do this.
You know what I'm saying? Just trust me. You're going It's going to look like that. It's not going to be a lack of like have you on tops. Oh, good idea. Yeah, yeah. So, she's she'll do good. If she if she releases, outsources, and then just trust the process, she'll kill it. She'll absolutely kill it. I know you like that episode. If you did, check this one out. Shredded, ripped, defined, single-digit body fat. Yes. You want to get there? Let's talk about it. about it. about it.
Difficult, and is it worth it? That's an follow-up question. follow-up question. follow-up question. Yeah, first off, we got to say that. Okay, so single-digit body fat, obviously obviously obviously body fat percentages that can be represented by one digit, like 3%, 5%, 6%, 9%. 6%, 9%. 6%, 9%. That's That's That's ripped for men. For women, Add 10%. Yeah, don't Yeah, exactly. Go You go up about
