Amazon Cargo Crash
An Amazon cargo jet overran a runway at Miami International on Sunday afternoon and traveled about 1,300 feet past the pavement. Five people died , all of them in vehicles the Boeing 767 struck.
Flight data show the jet was still moving at 112 knots, roughly 129 mph , when it left the usable surface. It hit navigational equipment, a contractor van carrying seven, a fence, then a Toyota on a nearby road.
Miami has no engineered arrestor bed, the crushable material installed at more than 120 U.S. airports and credited with saving at least 497 lives in overruns. It is not required everywhere.
Crypto Scammers Caught
A 22-year-old is scheduled to plead guilty this week to organizing the largest single-victim bitcoin theft in U.S. history. Two calls took 4,100 bitcoin, worth $240 million , in August 2024.
No wallet was hacked. One caller posed as Google support, a second as the Gemini exchange. The victim granted access to his Google Drive and read back security codes. Eighteen people have been charged ( $21B lost to online crimes in 2025 ).
The group spent roughly $4 million at Los Angeles nightclubs in a month, and one of them was traced through an IP address. The failure point was never the wallet. It was the Google Drive.

Canceled, Then Crowned
Prime Video canceled Spider-Noir on September 4 . Two days later the Nicolas Cage series won five Emmys at the Creative Arts ceremony, including cinematography, visual effects, sound editing and stunt coordination ( interview with Creator ).
The show carried 11 nominations, more than any other title on the streamer this year. Backstage, the winning stunt coordinators were asked whether the trophies might reverse the decision. That was not their department.
Cage said one season was enough, since he had said what he wanted with the character. All eight episodes remain streaming in both black and white and full color. The Primetime Emmys air September 14. Why Prime pulled it two days earlier .

Laird Hamilton Eats Twice a Day
Hamilton pioneered tow-in surfing at Jaws and still charges big waves in his sixties. His food is simpler than you would guess.
He showers, drinks a liter or two of water with lemon and sea salt, then makes a huge espresso loaded with coconut ghee, red palm oil and turmeric. That is breakfast. Liquid.

The timing that works:
- 60 minutes before whatever needs the focus. Peak absorption hits 30 to 60 minutes in
- Not at wake-up. Your body is already alert. Wait for the slump a few hours later
- Before a workout, which is why the NCAA limits it
- Earlier as you age. You clear caffeine slower every year
- Jittery or queasy? Eat with it. Otherwise black coffee is fine on an empty stomach
The ceiling is 400 mg a day, roughly two to three 12-ounce cups. If you are past that, the fix is not quitting. It is moving the first cup later.
