IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LAZARUS NATURALS
Happy Saturday. Here’s what we’re fixing, planning and stealing this weekend.
EDITOR’S PICKS
Habit we’re fixing before the kids copy it
Jesse Itzler’s son Charlie ran a marathon at 9. When people congratulated him, he looked away and shrugged. Itzler realized he’d set that example, because he doesn’t take compliments well either.
Now he treats a compliment like a tennis ball. Someone put in the energy to hit it to you, and if you look down and deflect, the ball drops. So look them in the eye, smile and hit it back: “Thank you so much. That means so much to me.”

Date night we’re moving outside
Skip the restaurant one night this month. Bring a blanket, a thermos and someone you like. Three dates worth getting a sitter for:
- Around Nov. 12, late evening: The Taurids. Monday’s new moon leaves the sky dark for slow, bright meteors. They’re modest, which leaves time to talk.
- Nov. 17 and 18, before dawn: The Leonids. Expect 10 to 15 fast meteors an hour under clear, dark skies. Best with someone who likes mornings.
- Tuesday, Nov. 24: The Beaver supermoon. It can look up to 7% larger and 15% brighter than an average full moon.

Spy trick we’re stealing
Former CIA officer Andrew Bustamante draws a line most of us miss: empathy notices what someone feels, while perspective also asks what they want. Before your next hard conversation, write down four things about the other person:
- What they’re feeling
- What they want
- What pressure they’re under
- What they’ll likely do next
Then ask one question that tests your guess, instead of arguing your side. It works on a negotiation, a performance review or a bedtime standoff.

No-fee day we’re circling on the calendar
National parks waive their entrance fees Wednesday. Veterans Day is the last no-fee day of 2026, and starting this year those days are for US citizens and residents only.
Two passes to know about while you plan: veterans and Gold Star families qualify for a lifetime pass at no charge, and US 4th graders get their own pass too. A few high-traffic sites may also need a reservation, so check before you load the car.

MARGINAL GAINS
The surprise sequel we’ve been waiting for . Dane Cook’s brother stole $12 million . Costco just added its first new diaper in 25-plus years *. He sold his company for $2B and bought Pokémon cards . Gatorade built an athlete made of water , no CGI. (*Partner)
