Flight Hoaxes

Hoax bomb threats have hit at least 34 European flights this week , 25 of them on Thursday alone. Jets made emergency landings or flew under fighter escort, and every one landed safely with nothing found.

An Aer Lingus jet from Dublin to Rome was diverted to an air base in France . The hoaxes come as cyberattacks hit supermarket freezers and a French blood bank , and emails to two airports named a Russian ultranationalist group.

Investigators say they have no evidence tying it to a hostile state, and the Kremlin calls blaming Moscow absurd. The big question: who’s behind it.

The AI Rout

The Nasdaq fell 5.5% Thursday, erasing an estimated $2.5 trillion , its worst day since April 2025. The S&P 500 lost 4.4% and the Dow 1,833 points , more than wiping out Wednesday’s postelection rally.

It comes as investors bet the new Congress could slow the data center buildout . Nvidia shed almost $450 billion , AMD and Micron each fell more than 17%, and Tesla lost nearly 11%.

The Nasdaq is now in a correction, down more than 10% from its October high. Japan’s and South Korea’s main indexes each lost 6% on Friday. The big question: whether the buildout actually slows.

Pokémon Gets In

Bingo, Care Bears, Pokémon cards and the playground slide made the National Toy Hall of Fame on Thursday. They beat eight other finalists, including Polly Pocket, Yahtzee and Tickle Me Elmo.

Bingo descends from an Italian lottery played around 1530 and now turns up in bars and nightclubs. Care Bears, from the early 1980s, got a push from nearly a million social media followers.

The Pokémon card game arrived in Japan in 1996, and the museum behind the honor has inducted toys since 1998 in Rochester, N.Y.

How to Talk Sports Without Knowing Sports

Thanksgiving is three weeks away, and somebody’s going to bring up football. You don’t need to know the score, the standings or who’s hurt. You just need four questions, because sports fans would rather talk than quiz you:

  • “Who’s your team?”
  • “Are they any good this year?”
  • “Who would you get rid of?”
  • “Who took you to your first game?”

Nod, pass the stuffing, and nobody will know you can’t name a single player.

The Turkey Trot Step Most Training Plans Skip

Your Thanksgiving 5K is three weeks out, and most plans stop at the miles. Long runs, speed workouts and recovery days all pull fluids and electrolytes out through sweat.

Coconuts + Running notes that electrolytes play an important role in hydration , especially on longer or harder runs.

Vita Coco Original Coconut Water naturally contains electrolytes like potassium, so it works before a run, after a workout or anytime in between. It’s a lighter way to refresh and rehydrate through the last three weeks of training.
